I like Richt. I Dont like UVA. If he takes the job, what will I do then?
Like UVA? Psshhhh #getReal
But in all honesty, that would certainly create a legitimate in-state rivalry both on the field and recruiting.
I agree.
Don't shrink the arena, grow the fan base.
After all, isn't that why we hired Buzz and renewed the recruiting interest? It's a bit early to be throwing in the towel.
I'm anticipating some big ACC games in that forum.
He gone.
In this game the box score lies to you. Allen probably had his most well rounded game as a Hokie so far. He created at least two or three other turnovers that arent steals because he made the opponent knock the ball out of bounds. He also drastically cut down on bad shots after driving into the lane. He passed out to open teammates on at least six occasions. Those teammates only turned two of them into assists. He also was the most effective offensively he has been all year. He shot 48% from the field, compared to his 33% average coming in. He went 7-8 from the line for a second straight game. He shot 50% from outside at 4-8, one of his misses being the 75 footer that rimmed out at the end of regulation. I for one was shocked at the transformation even from the UAB game. I have been as critical as anyone of Allen prior to last nights game but he doesnt deserve much criticism for that game. Hopefully he continues to play like he did last night. You also have to realize that Wilson played most of the minutes at the point last night as well so Allen was playing mostly the shooting guard role.
This is really scary for me. I don't see this happening. If I were Mark i would be using it as a bargaining chip. I think USCe is the best fit for him.
I don't want him competing for the same recruits we do.
When I was going to school from 08-12 we had no problem filling the arena for respectable games, even when our ceiling was a tournament bubble team. The team just needs to win, and that's going to take a few years.
It would have you like a broken link?
Me, too.
If he's the top choice for Miami (http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/college/mark-richt-miamis-top-choice-coac...) and he choses UVA it would have me like:
less pressure at UVA. Charlottesville is much less of a "sin city" than Miami too. Cville might suit Richt much better than Miami would.
That being said, Miami is in better shape with talent and will be much easier to recruit and rebuild than UVA so for a guy who might be looking to redeem himself Miami would make more sense. However, both are sort of dumpster fire jobs at the moment. Neither program has had much luck with their last 2 or 3 hires.
We got a shot, but could you imagine Khalan Laborn in Fuente's offense?
But is he a douche canoe???
I'm on board with this as that sounds a lot like what Gene Chizik did at UNC this year and I think it's been working out pretty good for them.
I won't be laughing about it.
I'll assume the threw money at the problem, because why else would someone do a foolish thing like that?
I'll be surprised if his first opportunity is in the ACC, but I guess you never know.
How funny would it be if he choose loluva over da U?
SEARLS??
The Hokies' new head football coach got a taste of Enter Sandman
A taste. Literally. Last night was like having one small hors d'oeuvre before they bring out the 15 oz. New York Strip with all the trimmings. Looking up videos doesn't really do it justice either, you have to be there to savor the moment of your eardrums bursting and spine tingling!
Shane was on Hardly Working with Greg Burton on ESPN 950 here in Richmond last night. Greg asked Shane point blank about staying at Virginia Tech. Shane acknowledged the good question and then gave a good coach answer about focusing on the bowl game and winning their bowl game for his dad, the seniors, and the coaching staff. He didn't sound like a guy that was confident he'd be coaching in Blacksburg after the bowl game.
The interview starts near the 16:20 mark and Greg had some good thoughts on Shane's situation at the 24:50 mark.
Greg has had Shane on his show every Tuesday evening around 5:15. I've always enjoyed listening to Shane and I think he'll make a great head coach once he is given the opportunity.
Thanks for confirming my sanity
I wish they'd trade, and let Mack Brown go to UVa as coach, leaving Richt as a game commentator.
I'm having a
devildiablo of a time keeping up with all thegooddivine news!!!
FTFY
I'll just have to add this to the list of reasons I hate UVa.
Its a great opportunity for him. They'll pay him very well, expect very little, and if he wins 8 games a year at UVA for the next 5-7 years, they will induct him into their hall of fame and erect a statue.
Why would Cassell drop him? I thought they liked him...

Maybe with a new staff at UGa he will be outta there.
