Once they get clearance from the NCAA, yes. Currently, we have too many coaches on the payroll, but that's a pretty typical situation for schools having a coaching transition. Should be no problemo, even by NCAA standards.

So can Fuente start talking to current VT recruiting targets/verbal commits? If so he should start doing some in home visits to ensure we don't lose any of the bigger recruits. I think that would go a long way in the eyes of those young players who might be unnerved by HCFB's retirement.

You said wit, we dont do wit around here, its all Whit in Blacksburg these days....and who is this Shakespeare guy anyways.

Usually though fans have no one to blame but themselves. If a team is known to travel well, then they usually get the better bowls and they move up in the pecking order. I think that aided in us going to the Sugar Bowl a few years ago and possibly the Champs Sports Bowl (back when there was a bowl selection order).

Personally, I hope we try to have a balanced offense under Fuente year one. Although we don't have much depth at the receiver position, we do have some skilled freshmen expected to come in, and that could help our passing game tremendously in the spread offense. He'll find a way to build the passing game around Ford, Phillips, Hodges, and maybe Kline/Burke, since those will be our likeliest contributors early on. The running game would also be a good crutch for our offense if: a) We hand the ball to McMillian more than just 10-15 times a game and b) McKenzie and Williams come back off of similar knee injuries well enough to warrant competition with McMillian.

I'm sure Fuente is excited at the potential of a spread offense in Blacksburg with the talent we have, and he'll have some young QB's to develop as well.

Opponent run, run, incomplete pass, punt. Rinse and repeat

what might be even cooler is that if we play with a lead - and science be praised, maybe even a 2 score advantage - defense will be able to pin their ears back and do what they do best, pressure/sack the qb.

a cool new solution that some places are taking up. -> If your job requires you to post on social media you will not have a personal account period.

that would solve a ton of opinionated posts and probably clean up the laziness/clutter.

2 cents!

Nice, it disappoints me that we are following the trend of so much in the way of bonuses for achievement on field but minimal for achievement in the classroom. I fully understand that college ball is essentially the minor league for the NFL but 99% of the players don't make it there and will need their education in the future...

Great job Whit!

That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

I think the whole staff combination is pretty special.

The odd thing is, if everybody is really, really good, why would anyone want to leave?

Ford is the league leading receiver, 3rd in voting? No AJ Hughes, period?

Sounds about right. /s

Edit: Just for reference.
Ford 63 rec 937 yards 10 TDs
Boyd 85 rec 873 yards 6 TDs
Scott 77 rec 709 yards 4 TDs

Sadly you're right there. Can you imagine if you were one of the 3 teams that were 7-5 and ended up in a lesser bowl though? I'd be livid. Of course it happens every year so why can't VT benefit for once...

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if we were selected ahead of NC State to get into the Belk Bowl. They are 1 win better and obviously would have just as many fans there as VT would. Campusinsiders.com has NC State going to the Belk Bowl, but ESPN thinks they'll either be Independence or Military Bowl.

Wins have nothing to do with it, it's about selling bowl tickets and TV viewership.
