"I retired because I had a good career. Emphasis on good"
I feel like it took forever to get here and now it's all happening so fast.
They used N51VT, which is unfortunately not publicly trackable:

Didn't think Loeffler utilized him well at all.
100% agree.
NO...but i'd like to see Zohn stay in some capacity for his recruiting abilities and 757 connections
I seriously doubt Loeffler would of come here as a qb coach. You have to admit the amount of talent on offense has drastically improved since his arrival.

I hate you
lol..thanks..I'm only joking though. I'm really excited about this hire. I think hiring Whit may turn out to be the best choice VT has made in almost 3 decades. He's just absolutely nailed everything he's had to deal with thus far. I'm super impressed with the work he's done and hiring Fuente + retaining Bud is a real bar raiser. Everything Whit does sets the bar even higher for himself and somehow he manages to keep exceeding it. That blows my mind.
Very happy to have Fuente in town and I can't wait to see where he can take this team. I'm totally on the hype train now.
Doom is the DC at Missouri. The reports out there about him and the Memphis job are all over the map.
IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE
Fwiw I believe all of the offense guys are gone!
Answer: Durkin.
The issue is that not many coaches aren't fired. Usually coaches coming into big programs want to succeed or fail with "their guys" becuase it's their a** on the line, so to speak. If someone is promoted from within, they tend to keep staff which is logical.
A long-tenured coach retiring, being replaced from outside the current system, AND keeping the DC and some other assistants? It's not really heard of from what I can recall recently.
It will be an interesting dynamic between the "old guys" that were here under Beamer mesh with the new guys coming in with Fuente. This defensive staff has already done one staff overhaul recently when Loeffler was hired, so I don't anticipate issues. That dynamic is one reason you don't see half the staf staying on when a new coach is hired IMO.
Can "Huevos con Fuente" become a segment on Virginia Tech Sports Today? It would be exactly the same as the coach interviews they do now. But with eggs.
I'll be curious to see if having Fuente at the helm can sway Dexter Lawrence from the likes of Clemson et al.
My alma mater Wake Forest HS has become a powerhouse in the state in recent years (Bryce Love at Stanford is also a WF grad). Getting a guy like Lawrence could create a much-needed pipeline to Blacksburg.

I LOL'd at this.
Edit: 1. I was wrong. 2. VTGuitarMan beat me to it (of course)
Back then VMI was more of a peer than UVa. Now? Roles have reversed
Have a leg for perseverance.
