I like the move to keep Shane. He has established rapport and connections with high school programs in Virginia. If Fuente would arrive with little to no connections to Virginia HS football, I'm not sure that the incoming class or next year's class would be very strong.

The important note in all this is that hopefully had the final say about whether Foster and/or Shane were retained.

I can see where you're coming from as far as Fuente being "strong armed". Regardless of the actual reason people will create their own narrative to fit their personal truths.

Maybe in his discussions Whit they decided, as a courtesy to FB, to allow SB to remain on the staff for another year until something opens up. I feel fairly certain since Fuente pretty much had his pick of schools that if he didn't want SB to remain on the staff or if it was a point of contention during negotiations, SB would not be on the staff (narrative created).

At this point it's all guess work until Whit addresses the podium.

Yeah, you guys done some hating on me. That's OK. All I remember over the last few years is a large number of games lost in the last few minutes due to a porous defense in prevent mode. Losses in OT because the D could not make a stop. If we do keep Bud I hope he gets some new assistants and returns to excellents.

Exactly right. The young DBs, especially Alexander, Edmunds, and Stroman, have improved mightily over the course of the season. A couple months ago Stroman was put on offense because of his struggles and now he looks like a capable DB. I was as critical of Motuapuaka as anyone but these last couple games he has seemingly tackled much better.

Sorry but there's a marked difference in stating your opinion and telling a coach who has been very successful and loyal despite having many opportunities to leave and coach at a higher profile school to "hit the road." That's enough to earn down votes if you ask me (the lamenting of down votes is truly pointless anyway).

Something about this doesnt really make sense to me. Do they have to do interviews for the job? More than one candidate? If they did Im guessing it would have been over the phone as Fuente is still preparing his team and wouldnt have a chance to just leave for Blacksburg during the week.

Is he really accepting a job at a place he has never visited? And agreeing to keep Foster without the two ever meeting? It just sounds funny. It may be true, and it might happen, but does sound a bit premature.
