I thought it was painfully obvious that his stop at Auburn where he didn't have the right people for his scheme was painfully obvious, as highlighted in multiple TKP articles such as this.

....We're not Michigan. We simply didn't have the talent that they and other high-profile schools have that drag in four-five star talent on a consistent basis.If you have 6'2 220 lb guards then you're gonna have a bad time trying to do anything against a talented DL line. No one said we can't get there, but you need depth to dominate a team completely and we just don't have that. It's simply ridiculous to have expected such a massive turn around and compare us to these type of schools.

trinity Christian maybe a smaller school but its busting out D-1 talent on the regular right now. lets not forget where our very own i.ford came from. there is plenty of scouts keeping an eye on TC and I would think if the kid looked like he was going to be developed into what he is now he would have had a few more offers.

Yep. If there's is no realistic punishment for breaking the rules, the rules aren't really rules.

More than any rumor, the interviewers last night leads me to believe this is all but a done deal. He asked specifically about the article yesterday, and said the following...

"I don't know Pat Forde," Fuente told reporters Tuesday. "As always, I stand by what we've said since we've been here. If there's something that comes along and there's mutual interest, then we'll have those discussions. Right now, it's time for SMU and trying to get ready to try to win our ninth game of the year."

You don't dodge the question if there isn't something you're trying to hide.

Projecting recruiting is an inexact process. Fuente may recruit very well here, but there isn't data to support that at this point. We also need to see his staff, the guys on his Memphis staff are all Texas or west based.

Intuitively, I agree that Fuente will do about as well as we have been. But back to my original point, that level of recruiting was leaving some cash on the table.

Like Beamers staffs in their heyday, Fuente also has an opportunity to be better at player development than his competition. That seems to his clear strength, you can't do what he did at Memphis unless you are an excellent teacher with schemes that take advantage of your talents. And no matter what, Fuente will have more talent at VT than he has ever seen before....even when he was at TCU.

Talked to a guy that said Fuente has been on campus for interviews 3 times.
The amount of blather out there is just to an incredible level.

No way a coach is seen on campus right now. Besides being right before the end of the season, you know people are watching campus to see if someone enters that's a coach. Everyone wants to break this story.
