I know, and it made me laugh. Just wanted an excuse to use a Monty Python GIF.

His head was, but were his eyes? He very well could have closed as he's angry and complaining. We don't really know. Doesn't excuse him, but I don't see him hitting the ref intentionally. He was swinging his arms 5 yards before he even got near Ron.

This information about Dan Mullen is the first thing that has actually interested me during the coaching search for the last week or so. Everything else is just #marinades and people spitballing random stuff. At least Mullen entering the conversation is newsworthy, because he was a very under-the-radar kind of guy before this. It was floated by a few people around here, but the focus has always been on RichRod, Richt, Herman, and Fuente, for the most part. Those are obvious names but it's intriguing to me as more possibilities enter the discussion.

I really just want an announcement. We have a whole offseason of hand-wringing discussion and analysis to look forward to with a new HC and new staff.

Absolutely. There are some coaches who will upset more people than others. There are some who will just be upset because who they wanted wasn't hired. Some won't like how much he's being paid while others won't like his assistants. But that's why we come here to discuss where the advantages of each situation are and how any decision, no matter how good or bad, can be beneficial to the program.

yes it was blatant and egregious. There is no place for it and I think Dadi should consider himself damn lucky that he won't be suspended for the entire game. For all he knows, it just might be his last.

This is true. Across all conferences there have been some major gaffes. We're more likely to complain about ACC officials, especially since we're the only conference who has suspended a crew for poor calls, but it's been bad everywhere. I still can't understand what the review official saw. After talking with Mike Barber, the only thing I can guess is that the replay crew forgot to extend their DVR recording time in case there was overtime and so they had nothing to look at. I've never seen a review of any catch last less than 15 seconds.

Agreed, I watched the replay. Dadi was looking right at the guy as he made contact. I know we always want to believe the best things about our players but it was about as intentional as it gets. I'd be more prone to give him a pass for the heat of the moment or something like that, but you can see on replay that he saw the refs arm there.

the way this site has been lusting over a different "done-deal" candidate every other day I thought this was appropriate....

Ford is quietly having a very nice season. He's not going to jump out at you when you look at his bio. He's not a flashy player who displays over exuberance when he makes a big play. He works hard and keeps his head down. That's exactly the type of player I want this team to be filled with. He's not going to get much attention from the commentators but that hardly means anything. Ford will still show up on Saturdays and do his job. He will leave Blacksburg as one of the great Hokies that Hokie Nation loves and it really doesn't matter what the talking heads think about him. People who matter will take notice and he'll be just fine. Don't you worry.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this. There will always be someone who is unhappy with the hire. I'll admit there are some coaches I would be unhappy with (Rich Rod, Lane Kiffin). You can't please everybody all the time. All you can do is try to please as many people as possible most of the time.

The actions of a team shouldn't affect the call.

I agree completely.

That doesn't mean Ron and his clowns weren't affected by the actions of the UNC team....

The officiating has been pretty bad across all of college football this year. There have been multiple times throughout the season that officiating has been a topic of discussion, even on ESPN sponsored shows. That is not at all how it should be. The more you hear about the refs indicates they are doing a poor job IMO

My feeling is none of you will be disappointed if he does.

You apparently haven't been watching the discussions on here. Someone is always going to be disappointed with a hire. I've yet to see a single candidate get the unanimous "yes, we need him" vote.
