By major conference, I meant that they had beaten a team from one of the major conference's (SEC, PAC12, BIG12, BIG10, ACC) this one just wasnt ranked in the top 25 is the difference. I guess I should have put another P5 school.

I don't see the ACC kicking any teams out. Ever. If they did, why Louisville?

Yes, I'm still bitter over the implosion of the old metro conference, and louisville's role in stabbing us in the back. So fuck them, I don't care if makes sense or not as long as somehow louisville gets screwed.

I read through the article again and I swear it's a worse read the second time around so I'm gonna go through there main points.

1. Tryouts Are A Grueling, Weeklong Bootcamp

I touched on this one above it's not nearly as bad as the article makes it out to be and it's only like 3ish days for wind instrument returners.

2. It's Extremely Demanding Both Physically And Mentally

There's some truth to this however halftime shows are only about 7.5 minutes long and the MVs usually have a set where you are standing for at least 2 minutes of that. Don't get me wrong I'm gassed by the end of some of those shows, but if an out of shape 5'9" 260lbs guy can do it, it's no death march. As for the mental strain it can be summed up in the motto "hurry up and wait" cause there was a whole lot of that over my 4 years.

3. It's A Full-Time Job (With No Pay And No Benefits)

Once again half truths here. Yes we don't really get paid to do this outside of big bowl games and there is certainly a lot of personal time put into an MV season. Also about once a day the band director makes a joke about taking away someones nonexistent scholarship (for reference most if not all SEC schools give their band members scholarships). In addition I know for a fact there are and were band members that were full time students in band with a part time job, for example me last fall.

4. The Band Is Completely At The Mercy Of How Well The Team Does

This is mostly false. The only things we at the mercy of the team for is a free trip to the ACC championship game, how good of a bowl we go to, and how early we have to wake up on Saturday.

5. Bands Can Actually Affect The Outcome Of A Game

Frankly this is probably less true than we want it to be. Technically we can cause a flag to be thrown against the team but I've never seen it happen, ever, even in a high school game. Although 2 or 3 years ago one of the players or coaches tried to blame a false start in the red zone on us, I don't remember the exact details, but I do remember a couple of sarcastic "our fault" chants the next game.

6. Bands Play More Than Just College Games

Most years everything outside of College Games are on a volunteer bases, except for homecoming parade and band-a-rama. Usually you'll either get a meal or some cool stuff if you volunteer, like a free shirt, MV "toothpick holder"or a Dave McKee (the band director) bobble head.

Agree. The lack of receiver depth really showed up in this one. The receivers dug down deep very late in the game, but were gassed much of the 2nd half. And that manifested itself into the D being on the field too much and leading to things like Hood being untouched.

why would he want to leave the "mighty, mighty" SEC?

As a few others have mentioned above, he could very well have finally come to the conclusion that there's a "glass ceiling" in the SEC West for Miss St. He's had their best player in probably decades (Dak P), and still he's not sniffed a SEC West title.

I'd imagine he gets that there's a much easier path to the ACC Champ game than the SEC Champ game (and therefore, the final 4).

My wife and I were both MVs and I've just got to say that this article is a joke. As mentioned above, some of the things are true but generally speaking this article is overexagerrated.

Bullet thoughts:

• Regardless of how true Zeke's comments were, they were uncalled for.
• I understand that he's frustrated - I've been in situations where I think I have a good solution to a problem, but my boss disagrees, and his choice blows up in our faces.
• Kid has lost twice in two years. Does not know how to handle a loss. Clearly Urban does not know how to help players mature.
• One comment in Zeke's defense - emotions are running high after a game. Players (of all sports) are put in an uncomfortable position when interviewed immediately after a game. I'm sure these comments would not be made if he was not interviewed until the following morning. Still, Urban needs to teach his kids to be a bit more grounded.
