Good example of this is Dave Doeren. Became a commodity at NIU, took them to the Orange Bowl in 2012. NC State had fired Tom O'Brien, then hired Doeren. NIU had an interim for the Orange Bowl and Doeren went as a spectator and cheered on his former team.
No, just no. Beamer is going to get his share but not lane
What Mullen has done at Mississippi State is pretty impressive. Before him, their longest consecutive bowl streak was 3, now it is six and counting. He's a guy that would keep Bud as well. Seems to be a pretty good recruiter at a place which historically hasn't recruited well at all before and he fits the spread offense bill that it has been speculated is what Whit is seeking. Sounds like a home run hire to me if it happens.

As soon as I saw this article, I knew Fedora was using the VT potential offer to get UNC to commit to facilities upgrades...
So you're saying there's a chance, as long as it's 85 years from now.
If he can make Motley and/or Lawson look like Dak Prescott then I will be a happy Hokie
There are many coaches who get hired away to another job and leave before the bowl game.
Pretty much, the only folks off the table at the moment are those that are still playing through December 5, either in regular season or conference championship games.
Looking at the future schedule soon we will be tired of ecu and odu...
Very few neutral observers think 1) that VT underachieved over the last 20 years and 2) that VT didn't recruit as well as it should have.
I would like to see some sources on that statement and/or how many you are talking about. Seems like a very broad statement for millions of neutral observers out there.
But I really don't need to go far and look at the past 10 years of VT recruiting in the state of VA. It's been on the decline for a very long time now
Never, they make too much money off their dusty rangs...
If you were a college kid looking for free drinks, that would be fine.
Heard a stat the other day that the Saints defense has been so bad that only 1 team in NFL history has ever been worse. A team from the 1930s that was so bad that the NFL disbanded them mid-season that year, ouch.
Dan Mullen - the Tom Herman before there was Tom Herman, but not as successful as Tom Herman. It's like the consolation prize of not winning out on Tom Herman, but still pretty good.
This would be the Buzz Williams hire in the football realm.
Early pioneer of the spread attack
Let's just say they regretted not doing something to Rick that happened in the comics, so they're gonna do something to Carl that happened in the comics. Probably will occur in last few minutes of the episode.
Would this only be possible for coaches who are not in a bowl game? I know that most coaches wouldn't want that hanging over their heads trying to coach a post season game, i.e. their team knowing they are leaving.
Strange times in Hokie Nation, finally dealing with the turmoil that most schools deal with every couple of years, or if you are Pitt, every 8 months.
"Right now I'm just 'Mullen' over my options" *WINK
- Whit Babcock
I would imagine there would be 5 Offensive coaches including Morris, 1 ST, and 4 defensive coaches. It would be really hard to conduct practices with only 3 defensive coaches.
BREAKING: Every football coach currently at a team in the NCAA and NFL are potential canidates for the VT opening.#SAUCES
I'm seeing fewer hiring announcement scenarios where I'm not popping bottles.
Playing at a home in an electric atmosphere is more than an enough to justify taking the game to overtime. We had momentum and the crowd on our side, I'd gladly take the risk of overtime.
Another day and another serious candidate.
many in the profession expect to occur within the next seven days
I think this is one of the biggest tidbits hidden in between the names. Happy Thanksgiving I suppose.
Haha the perfect picture

If Mullen and Bud can work together I'm all for it.
