We were clearly in it (down 4?) when MB went down, wadr to espn.
We beat them last year at their place, 100% luck, of course.

Playing them 1/2, down by 4, I'd say (had the injury not occurred) we win it 25-30% of the time.

Going into the game, I felt like it would be decided by no more than 10 points. Couldn't tell you I was confident of a win, but I thought it was possible. The defense wasn't playing exceptionally that night, so they were going to give up some points, but probably fewer than 42 if the offense stayed on the field longer. There was a bit of magic there, so I think if Brewer stayed in we were probably going to keep it really close. Maybe a loss on the order of 35-31 or a very (very) narrow win.

Tough to say. It certainly was feeling like the magic was coming back. Lefty said he was excited about the 2nd half adjustments and I believe him. The realist in me thinks the game would drive into the fourth quarter with OSU putting up a late score to win since the D didnt play that great. That being said, if you get to the fourth in a close game anything can happen.

I don't know if we would have won if Brewer stayed healthy but we sure as hell would've kept it close. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but it seemed like the offense was on its way to another solid drive when he went down and once that happened it collapsed like a house of cards.

I'd go so far as to say I was 85% confident we would win before his injury. Taking off the glasses and subtracting the emotions of being there I'm still probably around 70 or 75%

It wasn't like MV5 sucked as a player. We all know that he had the potential and could/did win a lot of ball games. It was the off field issues that was the problem.

The star rating system only rates them as a football player. The rating can't tell you about the person's character. "He was so disrespectful during the interview, I say we take a star off of his rating."

I would still argue that MV5 was a 5 star player. But he also came with a rating of 5 "sad UVA fans"

For some reason I was thinking Marcus was a 4 star, and our only 5 stars were Macho, Tyrod and Kendall. Are there any others I'm missing?

This is why I'd love to see McMillan to start getting some looks at WR. From that position, he could still easily run the sweep play, plus it would allow us to keep him on the field when Trey, Shai, or JC is running the ball.

This particular ranking is anything but subjective.

This pivot is the result of intense public scrutiny on the substantial cost of a degree vs. long tail worth — the very heart of FORBES definitive Top Colleges ranking, now in its eighth year.

It's a cost/benefits ranking.

For instance, according to recently released govt data, an engineering degree from UVA is marginally worth more than one from VT, in terms of salary projections. If that's the case for engineering, consider what it must be for business etc.

I don't think this class causes any more considerable concern when compared to where we were this time in previous years.

Poor recruiting directly lead to down years the past 3 seasons.

Agreed. Guilty of one such ad hominem (full disclosure - I had to look that one up...) myself. Hopefully we'll go on a nice winning streak and everyone will calm down and play nicely in the same sand box again. I for one will do my damnedest to avoid any future ad hominems.

Holland Fisher?

The same argument all the time...but the consensus is if you land five stars, good things happen. They are not fool-proof, but generally turn out well.

Our staff has been magnificent at finding diamonds in the rough, but it doesn't make for a sustainable program relying on projects and overlooked athletes.
There needs to be at least some superior talent mixed in.

Have to say, I kind of enjoyed the video of the VT equipment guys getting ready for the road trip to Purdue. Sneaky funny part was them loading up the Penske truck after I saw the Buckeye 18-wheel monster next to Lane. Man that program is flush with cash.

Here is the video:

agreed but my counterpoint would be why not atleast bring in one for the 2015 cycle?
