If that guy does somehow get up a head of steam, I'd be worried about him producing gravitational influence on our not as big guys.
There are always exceptions, and we've had quite a few like the examples you gave. But when you look at the bigger picture like he just stated, stars do matter to a large degree.

And my argument is that based on evidence, there's great room for deviation from the current status. I've never said that you were the one that was bothered by it. The discussion between you and I was that there is still uncertainty. In all likelihood, you are correct that things will likely end up how they are with the addition of maybe 5 more recruits. We just don't know who those 5 are and that's where the uncertainty comes from. No beef between you and I kff17
Might as well break the bad news now...week 3's not looking good either. The late games on CBS will be Chicago at Seattle and Buffalo at Miami.
Week 4 could be promising. Fox has the doubleheader, with Giants/Bills, Eagles/Redskins, and Panthers/Bucs as early games. Not sure which one will be the "default" game...probably depends on records.
In Week 5, CBS has the doubleheader, and Titans/Bills is one of their early games. I could see that one getting some wide coverage, as fans would be interested in the new QBs for both teams.
As I mentioned in another thread, there's always week 7 (London game streamed on Yahoo), Week 10 (Thursday night, but same time as VT/GT), and Week 11 (MNF).
Just stating that DV came from me, because you seem to always have a piss poor attitude and it seems very unnecessary to act like a jackass towards fellow Hokie fans that don't get as worked up as you.
I have no doubt we are all aware how important recruiting is. But as stated, I'm not sure its terribly productive to get fired up about it for the next 5 months when those of us on here can do literally nothing about it.
Stars matter.
1. A 5 star QB wants 4-5 star OL. A 5 star WR wants a 5 star QB to throw to him. A 5 star center wants a 4/5 star OL. Talent around your position makes you look better. Period. If a recruit is smart, they'll see that.
2. You cannot fill a national championship team with diamonds in the rough. Those guys can emerge as surprises, fill in gaps, or develop depth, but they can't anchor the team. Known quantities are more likely to work out (but of course, some fizzle)
3. Balance. 1 five star and 100 2 stars turn you into UVA. And really, who wants to be like UVA?

I had to force myself to read that intolerable piece of tripe with all its grammar errors. The worst part was the scribe has the stupidity to assert that: "A somewhat abridged version of our interview is below. Questions and answers have been edited for grammar and style." Talk about a much too full of himself stuffed shirt that assumes his locale by itself qualifies him as a sophisticated journalist....
Examples you ask? Try this gem: "The only person that recognized me was my mother. Her and my dad were watching the game at home and she ended up talking to me later and was like "I'd recognize the back of that head anywhere." Seriously? Even junior high school students understand that her is an objective pronoun and "she" is a subjective pronoun.
One time miss on his part? Uhhh.... no. Another even more obvious: "Oh my God, we're going to win, they're going to have this valiant effort to come back and it's going to be in vain." Dude.... That is TWO sentences... He could not even transcribe the verbal interview in a cogent manner.
If he offered himself as a simple fan who had an opportunity to track down Sad Student and get his take on the events, that would be one thing. This guy starts out with his "Setting the Scene" paragraph. Yeah, nice totally insufferable use of the redundant adverb, silently, with serene. No, articles like this just reinforce an urge I get every time I see a uVa logo to go and punch them in the neck...
But you can tell when other people's opinions are bothering them? Psych major?

I think this is mostly true. Tannehill came in as a QB and lost the QB competition, so Sherman moved him to WR. He played a bunch of WR his first two years before getting his QB reps and finishing as QB at ATM.
