Personally I think it's lame and hate that it totally kills any excitement between the 3rd and 4th quarters. I'm fine with keeping it since a lot of people like it, but move it to halftime or something.
On a macro (team) level, stars do matter but are definitely not the final word.
On a micro (individual) level, stars matter some (but not much - particularly in the mid 3* to mid 4* range that VT lives in) and aren't remotely the final word.

I love the Hokie Pokey. It is what its all about. It is a nice break to the commercial break in between quarters. It takes nothing away from the game and is a way to reinvigorated for the fourth quarter.

You say that, but really you only mean on defense.
The only guys we make look like studs on offense, ie All ACC players, were highly regarded recruits. Greg Boone being the only exception since 2008 with some oline sprinkled in. Logan, Bucky, Tyrod, DW, Ryan Williams and Darren Evans were all top 300 recruits, with Tryod, DW and Williams being top 50 (not a coincidence they are our best offensive players in that time frame)

I think it is foolish to worry about recruiting when national signing day isn't very close.
Kendrick Holland is the third receiver we're missing right now, IMO. For all the good that Zohn Burden's hire has done (and I now think we're in better shape than were were with AMo, personally) losing Holland was the one big hit of the coaching turnover there. Holland and Bradshaw were the two big WR gets of that class. Holland is gone and Bradshaw has been injured basically since he arrived. So yeah, I agree, were a year behind where we should be, but it wasn't recruiting whiffs that caused it. It was injury and attrition.
But that was a good one.

Yes, but EVERY 5 star we've landed became a great. The more stars, the higher the likelihood the player pans out.

Yeah I see where you're coming from. One or two 5*s each year would be nice, but Tech has never really been able to pull that off. But what we've always been good at is taking 2* or 3* players and making them look like 5*s. I don't think this class causes any more considerable concern when compared to where we were this time in previous years. We'll get who we need.
These rankings really puzzle me. I've never seen UGA ranked ahead of us, I've never seen GT so low, and I've never seen West Point ranked above the Naval Academy? Maybe I've just been out of the loop a while.
I've noticed a growing number of ad hominems on the comments lately. I'm chalking it up to the season starting and people being on edge about the OSU loss and Brewer going down. I hope it's not a trend.
