Well, I'm sorry yall did. After all, you guys were more prepared last year and beat us fair and square. I know a lot of people used the "our o line was inrxoerienced" excuse. Which is beyond stupid. Our guys were expected to step up and didn't answer the call and we lost. You just have to find a way to win with what you have. Same with VT tonight. Inexperience, injury, or suspension is not an excuse. Never should be since its a team game

I was okay with losing. I really was. Whether it be a 17-16 loss or an 80-0 blowout. Whether we are completely outplayed or shoot ourselves in the foot. I was fine with it.

But this. This stings. We were playing EXTREMELY well as a unit going into the half. Momentum was on our side. Even with the Buckeyes TD, I was confident we could pull ahead.

Then he got injured. Not his fault in the slightest, but it completely deflated the team. Not to mention Motley looked like a deer into headlights although he had a few nice runs.

Maybe we would've still lost with Brewer in, but it would've been a helluva a lot closer. We maybe even might've pulled it off.

There are a million ways this game could've gone resulting in a loss, this is the only one that really hurts me.

EDIT: Also, I don't think Motley is our guy. He has had 2-3 years to play and understand the offense. He has looked extremely mediocre everytime he has been put in the spotlight. Luckily Furman and Purdue aren't powerhouses but if Brewer's injury puts him out any longer than we will start incurring losses.

Just saying my fairly wells..just wanted to say that that's a hell of a full back you've got. The kid is a beast. Sucks seeing injuries, good luck moving forward. You'll do fine. So long Hokies!!

Disagree. Even with taking Beamer's age/career out of the equation, I don't see how you can let Hodges/Ford/Phillips/Malleck squander an entire year of eligibility.

If Lawson is being redshirted, then I would say go ahead and redshirt Ford, Phillips, Shai, and just about everyone else that can be at this point. That's obviously not going to happen but I wouldn't expect Brewer to return later on. Goforth has already moved 4-6 weeks to 8-weeks, and even if that number doesn't keep going up, he couldn't start right away.

If you're going to play Lawson, I agree with French that you do it right away. He can have some success against Furman and should be able to get a run game going the next few weeks with the OL play. Sidenote: Nijman proved a LOT of people wrong. He is going to be a stud at LT.

I mean, I don't want to be inflammatory...But I've seen nothing but people diminishing the intelligence of an honor roll student (and social media savvy kid) on all corners of the internet and even via hanging bedsheets out a window on campus....You think he doesn't see any of that and feel it? I saw on a few various OSU blogs about his extra motivation.

Giving OSU so many chances to break big plays, eventually it's gonna happen. With Brewer on the field potentially converting 3rd downs, and a running game gaining ground, it would have been VT just grinding it out, giving the D a rest and hopefully getting a TD after a sustained drive. Then give the rested D a chance to make another stop. That was the recipe to win.

I agree 100 percent it is closer if brewer stays in. He wasn't playing lights out but he was playing well enough and just managing the game. 0 turnovers is big. Props to him for sure. I'm just saying, I despise the fans who will use brewer as an excuse. As if depth isn't a huge part of football. It's also insulting considering what Ohio state had to deal with last year With Qb injuries. That being said, I'm sure some on our side would have said "we only lost because we had bosa and 3 receivers suspended." Also a sad excuse. Again, depth is everything. Men go down. I'm sure motly and your other guys will do fine and I hope they do. If they hold down the fort we may see yall in the playoff. Wouldn't surprise me.

Marshall is replacing their starting QB, top WR and TE, 2 OL (including 1 all-conference), and 6 of their front 7 on defense. They still have some talent but it's really tough to say how good they will be this year.

This is also my take. Either a back and forth to the last possession, or a late 4th quarter fade because of your superior depth. We just couldn't do diddly-shit against you with Motley. But through 2.5 quarters, it looked like a pretty even matchup.

Motley was a Wing T QB in high school who didn't throw for 1000 yards in 4 years.

As said below not everyone has 3 all american QB who have played a substantial amount of time in a system.

Motley probably has had 10 game time snaps before this and all were probably handoffs.

Ah, just let it go. Not gonna turn out well. We know and love Cardale as a fun loving kid who's active in the community (and obviously social media) and an honor roll student.

I wouldnt go so far as to say ice cold, since he was in on some wildcat plays throughout the first half

I took the dog for a walk at halftime and heard some glass break then looked up to see two guys running from a car with a backpack. I called the cops and then told some people who were standing outside down the block- turned out it was one of their cars. As disappointing as the second half way, it could definitely be worse.

Have I mentioned that I really hate living in DC yet?

To be fair, not everyone has three All-American QBs on the roster.

It's one thing to say we would have won with Brewer. It's another to point to his injury as the moment the game shifted, because it was. You guys capitalized on our weakness and put the game away. And our weakness was having our wide-eyed backup QB in the game and doing fuck-all against your defense.

Yeah, championship teams have great backup QBs, and we're working on getting back to that point. We aren't there now. We don't have a Cardale Jones on the roster yet.

"EXCUSE" is a sore subject around here. As in we've had to listen to a years worth regarding how 35-21 managed to happen.

Ok folks, gotta shut it down for me tonight. The kiddo's first day of the school year is tomorrow. I have to be a dad before I start on the film review.

Goforth has already started talking like 8-weeks plus is more likely. I don't think we are looking for a stop gap as someone else said. We are moving on the QB of future and even if he isn't "ready" yet, he isn't worse than Motley.

If we aren't going to burn Lawson's shirt, then I see no need of playing anyone that has a redshirt year left. If we are playing for the future, we might as well go at it 100%.

I think at this stage of Beamer's career, he is going to play Lawson. You can't let Hodges/Ford/Phillips/Malleck/Cline squander an entire year of eligibility on the fringes. That would be sickening.
