In the 11W "Bear Beaters" article that Mason linked to, Meyer started pulling the uncovered tackle and leaving the guard to block down against bear fronts. Seems like an easy adjustment for the OLine to make as well; same play but with different lineman pulling. I was wondering why it works because the tackle has a longer route when pulling, but most tackles are more mobile than guards so the timing is probably OK.
What I wonder about is how Bud is going to counter this?
Maybe he sends both the MLB and the safety through the hole so the tackle can only pick up one of them? I expect to see the tackle pulling on lots of run plays if the defense is in the bear (or quickly switches to the bear).
...he's gonna tuck it and do again, the fullback!
I have absolutely NOT been checking every comment made on this thread for when this would be posted...
Yep. I'm weird. Don't like picking for or against my team. Didn't pick this game last year either.
Jet Sweep to Stroman
We will see that too.
I think Maddy got an INT against Marshall by dropping into coverage.
Or if there is even a sustained driver or a quick VT touchdown on offense, there's no one to spell them. They have to be ready for a marathon. It does play to their advantage that this is the freshest they will be all season.
The land bridge that has brought the upbeat OSU colonists to this utopian native society of TKP is rapidly being swallowed by the north pacific due to global warming of the fanbases desire for football and a sever outbreak of homerisms. Hopefully we don't all get smallpox and can show up to scream for our guys to kick ass Monday. Hats off to all.
GO Hokies!!! And btw 2001 Miami was legit. And we worked hard to lose that game. And we succeeded.
*Looks at backup center*
Dammit Brady Taylor! Way to open that wound again JUGS! Really though, their entire 2nd string line is green.
Can I pick 2005 or 2006? Those were our most solid and dominant defenses and the 2005 group was wildly talented. I'll wait on this year's edition until we've played some games.
I love the idea of their offense trying to audible in Lane next week.
if for whatever reason they're starting center gets hurt that could be huge huge huge..
don't ever want a player getting hurt but just looking at who would come in a Freshmen and that would be a terrifying 1st gametime action for a youngin.
They're surprisingly young...
I am anxiously awaiting a Fuller perspective on the games result next Monday
Momma Fuller's. What is her secret to a genetically superior football player?
I was just looking at their depth chart. They have a ton of Fr and So on their 2 Deep right now. 3/5 of their OL is a Snr but if they go down, it's all really young guys backing them up. I'm a little confused at the hype of "the greatest team ever!!!!11111!111!!111!" I agree they will be a great team, but there are lots of great teams out there right now.
You guys have been great over the past couple of months. I would imagine that the tension will begin to escalate throughout the week, so please bear with us as the homerism rolls out in full force. Looking forward to a hard fought, injury free game that the refs don't screw up.
And he broke the tie by fumbling one away as well.
Agreed
Which Fuller's perspective are you interested in?
well, I guess I'm a Frank Beamer fan and I never did play organized Frank Beamer. Organized Jim Beam yes.
I think LB play in 07...especially latter half of the year -- has a leg on this young corps. I feel with Macho, Brandon, Kam, and DJ, that the DB corps is MARGINALLY better than this year...but our DL this year seems to be better than 07. Ellis and Booker are good, but they're no Maddy, Ekanem, Marshall and DADDIIIIIII!!!
Won't more educated answers and a fuller perspective be available on September 8th?
