It's not just us. If he's playing early, he isn't playing for a winner. I think it's an issue of all kids their junior year of HS think, yeah, Imma set the world on fire in college, just gotta find where I can get on the field. I expect immediate playing time will slide down his priorities totem pole the closer he gets to deciding. Or else he will really regret his decision because of the dire straights of a program that needs him to play freshman year. (See: Us, last year.)
As it also would be for Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, UNC...no?
love the helmets but the interior design in those images is less than inspired. the wall graphics look great but the actual interiors pretty dang boring.
What impressed me about Settle was his excitement towards the program. My family lives around Manassas, and apparently Settle and his mom were in a carwash line behind one of my relatives. Said relative has a VT license plate holder and Settle, recognizing that, went out of his way to make conversation with him. Settle asked if he was an alum (which he is), and my relative told him he was. Then Settle added "You should come down for some games and support us this season!"
Just thought it was great to see he is excited to be a part of the program and went out of his way to introduce himself instead of the other way around.
What has Lawson shown, other than being tall, that shows he is ready? I haven't heard anything that says he is tearing it up in practice or anything. Are we really getting this excited about a tall QB again?
It's all fun and games until I'm waiving this on a sign during VT quasi-Gameday and Desmond sneaks a over the shoulder look.
So seems like a hard sell for someone who wants early playing time.

# | Bud Foster: Virginia Tech defense is " more aggressive and twitchier" than Wisconsin, Bama, Oregon I can't see that happening. I don't think they will change their philosophy and start using a lot of leads/isos. That is just too much to throw at an offensive unit that really wasn't designed and recruited to play that style. If they are able to move our DTs and create traffic for our LBs and/or block our DEs with their TEs they will be able to run the ball but I don't think it will in any way resemble a pro-style attack.
Speaking from experience, crowd noise can be a major advantage for the DL. In fact, I believe it is really the only tangible difference maker in having home field advantage. If we can give our guys a 1/2 step advantage up front by forcing a silent count, with the way our guys up front get off the ball, there will be a lot of chaos consistently in the OSU backfield.

Did Shai get a medical hardship waiver? Was he in under the wire for that? If so, he's a R-Fr this season. That means if the knee holds, he's a R-Jr in 2017.
Marshawn, if he redshirts this season, is also a R-Jr in '17.
Travon McMillian, R-JR in '17.
Deshawn McClease, JR or R-So in '17 depending on a redshirt year.
Coleman Fox, ditto.
RB recruiting yet to be determined for this cycle. If we sign an RB, he'd be either a So or R-Fr in '17.
This kid would have to be spectacular to jump the number of players necessary to see the field his true freshman year, and it would still be a longshot as a R-Fr.
I live near U Street and would recommend Solly's. The Brixton has TVs as well and will probably show the game. Adams Morgan has a lot more bars with TVs. I like Meridian Pint up in Columbia Heights as well.
Have a leg newguy, and welcome to the best dang virtual place for Hokie fans in the world.
Either of the bottom 2 would be str8 up tragic
Glad your here. I just spent some time on 11 W and some of those folks are delusional homers. I know we have them too but...it is extremely tough.

I'm not one to usually spend money on helmets and such (mainly because I don't have it), but if there is an option to buy the mini or the full size of the new brain bucket, they will both be sitting in my office a week after they go on sale. Besides the issue with the sticker covering the hole I think it's one of the most solid helmets we've had.
I am waiting for a loan to come in for other reasons, if its in my account friday or possibly monday; I am there. I just have to figure out the ticket issue and the lodging issue for Monday night. Maybe, I can buy some drinks and convince someone to let me sleep on their floor.
"metro would be the preferred method of travel" - I think you may be the only person I have heard say this in the past year...

# | Bud Foster: Virginia Tech defense is " more aggressive and twitchier" than Wisconsin, Bama, Oregon This forum is full of great insight by both sides of this soon to be battle. Clicking on it only makes the days seem longer til gameday, but I can't stay away. It's been fun reading, good luck week 2 VT! This has been the most insightful and pleasant home&home opponent I've seen between fanbases. Sorry I couldn't add to the schematics of the game, the other comments covered more than I could fathom. Agree, and I'd go a step further and say anything but top left is tragic. I don't care for the new colors. Unless it's just an illusion, the maroon on the top right looks more "purpley", if that's a word.
