I understand SL is a very smart man, but he has to make it translate onto the field...and i think we all agree that this HAS to be the year for that.

I just go back and think about the teams that we've had over the past few years. The defense has been what has kept us from being a lower tiered P5 team, and that's even with them being on the field in bad spots and for long periods of time.

I know it's been said before, but even if we aren't the top defense in the country this year, if we have an offense that can at least be average we could be nasty good.

They really went out a limb there with their analysis. No conventional wisdom from that crew.

How is that injuries are major issue for VT (which is true), but not for GT with, say, their QB?

When it comes to QB coaching, QB recruiting, and offensive knowledge , Lefty makes mike o'cain look like don knots. If he can dial in his play calling and get to cute I think we will be more competitive on offense than we have in years. As for the defense: Bud Foster.

We've got talent, no question. Maybe one of the most top heavy teams talent wise we have ever had. The question marks and weak spots are there as well, how that shapes up could determine how the season goes. Oh and we are going to have to have at least a freshman or two show up huge.

I don't think point D is quite right. I think both teams that would have been in the Orange Bowl would get into the NY6, but not necessarily against each other.

I saw the ACC preview on ESPN, they have 3 or 4 guys doing the analysis. They went as far as saying that the coastal was going to be between us and Georgia Tech. They also said the major issue facing Virginia Tech would be the injuries on both sides of the ball. Let's keep the fingers crossed.

2010 Boise State game. Still. Not. Over. It.
