I'd like to show my appreciation to Lt. Obvious, who, I've heard, recently got a promotion.
I never could understand why last year the only position on the OL that we had to replace was Andrew Miller at RG the rest of the OL had played together all of 2013, yet when Searles came in he switched every single starting
O lineman to a new position. Toward the end of 2013 they were playing pretty well together, it made no sense to me at all.
We played inside leverage last year and it worked great except for the one time Thomas got free.
I would think it will depend on the scheme we run. If we are doing something similar to last year with 0 coverage, then we will still have 2 unaccounted for defenders in the box.
Chase Williams did it last year when he wasn't hurt.

The bottom line here is that either Chris Petersen is a liar or Art Briles is. Petersen says he fully informed Briles of the sexual harassment and assault issues the player had at Boise. Briles said he knew nothing of that. My money is on Briles being the prevaricator.
There are a few comments I've seen from Buckeye fans dismissing aspects of our program that I'm just not sure how to take, something like these:
"Every team in the country uses those basic blitzing schemes..."
"By any name - under any D coordinator, it's basic. Too much credit is going to Foster." (<--last year's gameplan)
"Every team has the loudest stadium."
"Every team has the best D-line."
But "every team" doesn't get the same results, doesn't have their stadium ranked, doesn't cause seismographs to deflect, doesn't have award winning DCs widely respected by the media as one of the tops in their field. If a VT fan is saying it, usually it's true, not because we're one of "every team in the country."
I gotta agree with those who brought up Cardale's apt, and especially his car. I thought the exact same thing. How does a very poor kid from Cleveland get set up like that?
On the other hand, two things give me some comfort that this isn't going to turn into an NCAA investigation: 1) Since the last scandal, the OSU athletic dept has really scrutinized jobs and cars - making sure everything is kosher and documented. 2) If OSU has editorial control, and they had no problem with it, then it must not be a problem. But, of course, that assumes that idiots aren't the ones making these decisions. :)
I disagree with those criticizing Braxton's ability to catch. In this show, and other film I've seen, he snatches the ball out of the air - which is what you want to see. The fact he misses some indicates he is like almost every other guy who catches balls. I do agree with those who doubt whether he can do it when someone is bearing down on him with bad intentions. Have to see that to know it. And he has to prove he can get blown up with contact on his right shoulder and pop up and play another down.
But Braxton is one guy who I have caught myself holding my breath when he breaks to daylight. Thinking he won't be causing us to do it on Sep 7 is probably not realistic.

Actually it was clean bathrooms. And the lack of wifi was nearly last on the list.
It doesn't bother me what kind of food they serve. I'm not going in to eat. But some people do. And some people want gluten-free. They now have that option. Good on them.
(We do have the best food on-campus in the country, so there is a level uphold. You don't have to eat the gluten-free, but I imagine there are a few that will. And if it doesn't work, they won't do it next season.)

key game: Friday Night vs NCSU. They are getting some preseason hype and beating them will be key to our chances for a Coastal Championship.
breakout player: Trey Edmunds. Finally gets a complete season, puts #1 RB on lockdown. 900+ yards, 10+ TD.
highlights - revenge on GT, revenge on Pitt, streak continues vs UVA,
lowlights - Close loss to OSU, Loss on the road to BC (because BC), Loss at home to UNC (we always lose a game at home to someone we should beat)
I think we have a legit shot at a Coastal Championship. UNC has a pretty weak schedule, but I can see them dropping at least three of these games: @GT, @Pitt, @NCSU, and Duke at home.
GT has Clemson and FSU from the Atlantic and we'd have the tiebreaker over them if they only drop one other game.

You remember how everyone was all concerned about wifi in the stadiums, and thought that was the reason why students weren't attending games? They were wrong.

You misinterpreted basically everything I said. I know how the justice system works. I was advocating trials. The kind we already have. Not secret tribunals or whatever it was you inferred. But bar the media from the courtroom and issue gag orders to all parties until a verdict is reached. That's done pretty often, and would serve a real purpose here. I didn't even go as far as advocating sealing the records (also happens pretty commonly). Just keep the press out for the time it takes to conduct a proper trial. All of this applies to almost everyone over the age of FOURTEEN, and no one suggested athletes get a pass, but rather that certain powers of judges be invoked automatically in certain types of cases, regardless of who was party to those cases.
Hopefully the experience brings confidence to attack the hole and not wait to make sure it is the right hole. If he is attacking, he may drive through the ball carrier instead of catching him.

He's made piece with his family and has admitted he wasn't running the program the right way in Florida. If people want to hate him for life for that, that's their issue.
And my only point, which you refused to answer is what benefit does scheduling Navy bring? Any reasonable person would conclude that it was stupid of Ohio State to schedule them.
Because it's a fad. It costs more money to prepare, not just the food itself but it's prep and storage. My wife is a GI doctor, people with actual celiac are rare very rare.
I think the Ohio State game is critical. Last year, if injuries hadn't decimated several units, that win at Ohio Stadium would have really catapulted VT. As it was, any confidence and momentum was canceled out almost immediately.
Certainly, if the Hokies win, they will have the same opportunity, but even if they lose yet compete and are in a position to win in 2nd half, that will give them the basis to believe that they can play with anyone in the country. If the score doesn't look pretty in a loss, that opens up a lot of possibilities.
Because of that, I would like to see the staff address this topic again on September 8th or 9th.
This is all well and good, but until I know what their food prep procedures are to avoid contamination, there's no way I'm eating food from the concession stands.
