You've gotta remember we still have two full weeks before OSU. Teller was with the 1's all spring, and was with them in all 1vs1 today. What would happen if anyone gets hurt? Osterloh needs to play and work with those guys. I could see Conte or Osterloh being the next tackle option. If a guard got hurt, it'd be Osterloh

Well, I am still in Blacksburg for work, but I graduated in `97.
I assumed after day 2 of Teller with the second team that it was an undisclosed injury affecting him. But that is an assumption.
GT game he should be a better fit for him. Not a lot of reading involved for the LBs against that offense... he will have a set assignment on most plays. Against Ohio State he will have to do a better job of reading the guards and finding the football.
And Ohio State
Facyson getting hurt at the end of the Ohio State game made a pretty big difference. He got picked on against ECU and simply couldn't move like he needs to. That is not the case this year.

I've rewatched the first 6 games of last season so far and I agree that it was no fluke, but there was such a stark contrast just the week after in the 1st quarter of the ECU game. Not sure how a team can play so differently, regardless of the systems they faced.
I have noticed that the guys making all the plays were Kyshoen Jarrett, Chase Williams, Isaiah Ford and the two freshmen RBs. At least in the first 6 games, they were playmakers regularly. It concerns me that we have two fresh faces at rover and Mike, but Ford and the RBs will make noise this year.
That goes without saying.....I worry about the more important game vs GT

Dadi did play. In fact, he had a sack the first play he was out there. It was only a handful of snaps though.

If I was a betting man, I would put everything I had on Teller starting and playing the entire game against Ohio State... and I believe he will play well.
Ohio State runs a ton of read option, right? Which means AM would be a major liability as some have feared.
AM was decent not great imo. RVD and Clarke played well. McKinnon and Huelskamp both made a few plays but were not great. Overall, LB was one of the weakest positions in this scrimmage.
From what you saw, would you say people should not make too much of Teller's having worked with no. 2's as it appears there was more than a bit of mixing and matching all over? I see it as the coaches trying to build chemistry and nip the injury bug ahead of time. We need more o-linemen who believe they can and do play like first teamers. Next man is up and ready
But with all the rotation we're seeing, don't you think it's possible the entire objective is finding linemen 7, 8, 9...
If you're going to rotate in your 2s, who are you gonna drop out of the 1s? Common sense says it's the guy you have the most confidence in, the player who is most game ready and needs those snaps with the 1s the least. By every metric, this board believes that to be Teller.
I get that unit cohesion is really important on the OL. But so is developing depth. Maybe, just maybe, could we all be freaking the hell out because it's been so long since we've had depth on the OL, we've all forgotten what it looks like?

I thought mike has a definite assignment against the flexbone? I definitely don't think Motu will be the defender reading the pitch. I look for that to be Clark, or maybe Kendall.
After reading so much about the secondary depth, I'm not concerned about Frye at rover anymore. I think that if he is forced to be put in a position that doesn't play to his strengths, we have another player who can sub in for him and play well in those situations, whether it be Riley, Alexander, Mook, Stroman, etc. Moto is the only concern I have for now, and even that isn't that bad because literally every other starter is playing on another level.
