AM is who scares me in this game. He still doesn't pick the right gap consistently and that's going to lead to some huge plays for the OSU offense.

I think this game comes down to whether or not our offense can put together long drives. We have to keep their offense off the field, just like we did last year for the most part.

This. Cardale could exploit this all day, and think it is a high-risk vulnerability because there is little to nothing we can do about it. If JT is quicker and more athletic, we can defend him more effectively through strategy, which Bud is highly capable of doing. Bud isn't capable of making our guys bigger, despite urban legend.

Yeah, it's like he's thinking what most Bama fans think, "wait, they've got talent and speed too? Why couldn't we catch him?"

Steve Sobczak: Was the most dominate interior player on the field. This has been the case the last three times I have seen the team scrimmage. He SHOULD be the 3rd DT in the lineup right now based on what I have seen.

When we signed this big kid I was excited. Late in the OSU game when fatigue has set in on both sides, his coming on now could really pay off since they seem to think their big slobs are destiny's child. As well, he could offer Foster some bigger options to plug things up against the likes of Pitt and BC.

It will be interesting to see how he and that other fellow get Settled in these next few years.

I can't argue if that's incorrect info since other than the spring game, which Miller did not play in, I didn't watch any OSU practices. I can see how it's mentally challenging to officially lose Miller for the season but I still contend Barrett was more experienced in the OSU system and don't think it's a stretch to think he had worked with the first team more than Brewer had coming into the season (VT's QB competition spilled into fall camp last year).

Another story states that Braxton started throwing mid-June. Seems like it would've been quite difficult for him to practice before he was throwing the ball.

Braxton was participating in Spring practices but not taking contact (not unusual for starters). He also was participating in fall camp, not sure where you were getting your info. He was held out of several scrimmages to not take contact. He was injured August 18th, the VT game was September 6th.

You are doing it right. My dream house is Smith Mountain Lake. Great for summers, but golden until December.

See, I rewatched it recently, and I feel the opposite way. We made A TON of mistakes on offense (and a few on defense). We got extremely lucky that they missed TWO field goals. I think the reason the defense did so well was because they were playing with a lead, so it was more Barrett having added pressure, even before you consider that we blitzed the hell out of him. During the second and third quarters, it's really apparent that OSU had a very talented team that was very dangerous when allowed to play their game. Last year was last year. It has zero bearing on what happens this year. I don't expect either team to be nearly as sloppy as last go round, and this game is going to be tense for 60+ minutes.

Re: Teller. Several possible scenarios, as French and others have nicely laid out, each filled with assumptions b/c we really don't know. Let me take a stab.

1. Osterloh is outperforming Teller. Appears unlikely as Teller probably didn't get worse and Osterloh probably didn't improve that quickly. Possible but unlikely.

2. Attitude or other behavior problem from Teller. There may be some evidence to support this. Strange timing of the Mohawk removal and comments from Searels touting three others as playing hard noticibly leaving Teller out. As French noted, odd for this type of "message" to last this long and probably counter productive, but Searels may have his reasons. This one seems possible and only somewhat unlikely.

3. Finding a 6th and 7th O-lineman by getting guys 1st team reps. If you believe that an injury is likely and your going to need a 6 and a 7 early, then this would make some sense. The trade off is missed opportunity for the starting five to gel through reps together. French has made a compelling case that this is an unwise tradeoff. However if your Searels and you went through last season, you can see why he might be thinking that prepping the 6 and 7 guys takes priority. One other consideration, who do you give reduced reps to if you want to get other guys in the mix? In my experience it's usually the highest performing guy who wIll be the least affected by not getting 1st team reps, this could be Wyatt.... Also last piece of evidence today, several scrimmage observers posted that Teller took all the snaps in the 1s vs 1s. That would seem logical in this scenario. Possible even probable.....

4. Teller is injured. Doubt this one very much, unlikely to keep him off the ones but still on twos.

5 Other. Entirely possible. Not being in the locker room or in the coaches meetings we wouldn't know.

So there's my thoughts on this. I'll give Coach Searels the benefit of the doubt until we see how this plays out, then I'll grab my pitchfork and call for his head.

It was a combination of a lot of factors. Firstly, Brewer was on FIRE. He had the game of his life in the Shoe. Yes, he made some great throws, but he did get lucky in a few throws such.as the throw to Rogers in triple coverage. It worked, but it was risky.

We absolutely dominated them for the first half or so, but then we stalled offensively for most of the 2nd half. OSU clawed back and tied the game. However, we responded with a great drive that ended with a score and we let the defense do the rest.

So in short, we dominated them offensively in the first half and rode our defense for the most part in the second. Keep in mind OSU had 2 missed easy FGs as well, although we missed one too. Our offense should've been better 2nd half but it worked out for us thanks to our defense.

It was the perfect storm of A. Inexperienced OSU and B. Brewer playing lights out C. OUtplaying them defensively . I don't think we could've pulled it off later in the season once OSU started working as a team. The game 2 weeks from now will be VERY different, but if we can stop the run I think we'll have a chance.
