All of those players I mentioned that were drafted were recruited by the prior regime and drafted under his watch. So saying he had no talent to work with is obviously not true. I'm not saying he had A+ talent, but he had more than enough to have a more competent offense than one ranked around 100th in the country for his first two years.
you're really reaching insinuating I called the 10/11 classes "great". They were awful classes filled with attrition and bust for both sides of the ball. They weren't the only players he had to work with since he's been here though.
They're just looking for ratings, and no doubt they've got plenty of subscribers who are desperate enough to watch their hype video.

They do benefit from being the only game in town though. (Indiana also has Purdue down the road) And Marylands recruiting footprint is way more plentiful.
IU could turn their program around similarly to KU under Mangino.
For him, he might be right. The rest of the school is just there to support his pre-NFL training.
For most of his teammates, however, the education will help them with their lives, whether they make the NFL or not.

I just get the feeling Trey is going to have one of those years that makes us forget that we have Shai and Marshawn redshirting and ready to wreck shit in 2016.

You're counting all the momentum we had from that 2005 year where we were very much a national title contender through the back to back ACC title years. We should have been bringing in kids who would have been drafted 4 years later. Which makes those 2 classes even more head scratching, because they happened right in the middle of our last peak, when we whipped FSU in the ACC Championship after going undefeated in conference play and the next year getting the ACC's only BCS At-Large bid. (don't count Clemson in 2013 because I believe the rules had it so that an ACC team had to fill in FSU's spot for the Orange Bowl when they went to the title game)

yeah that was kind of my point...we're in agreement for sure...I don't really understand how having more players drafted on the offensive side of the ball since 2010 means that we had great recruiting classes in 2010-11. Especially since none of the players recruited in 2011 would have been drafted at all and only some of the players from 2010 might have been drafted at the earliest after last season. The dude's argument is riddled with holes

Those 2 classes were awful. Its the main reason we had to rely on freshmen as much as we did last year, and why we had to bring in a transfer to start at QB.

Edit: nine minute mark. UM's opening remarks. More interesting. He's a hard ass for sure. I believe the nine keys he's talking about are: qb, rb, te, ol, wr, lb, dl, corners, safeties. Nine Strong. I notice the loss he mentioned was Michigan State a couple of years ago, didn't mention the home opener loss to VT. He's smart to talk about everybody doing their jobs, and not championships...
Edit #2, after the whole video. Just a hype video. Doesn't really show drills or anything, and just a glimpse of the mindset. Overall, a disappointment.
Hopefully, this year it won't be all doom and gloom though. Hopefully some will realize the good a loss to VT can do. Last year it woke the team up and made them realize they weren't shit. They respond by becoming the most improved team in the country over the course of the year. This years team probably has an inflated ego (any championship will do that) and I wouldn't mind them be taken back down to earth. An early loss to VT will once again be a wake up call and obviously the game is early so they can still easily make the playoffs. Better to lose early and get motivated than lose late to MSU and not have enough time to climb back in the polls. In a weird way, VT beating us might actually be what we need if we hope to get back into the playoffs and run the table.
Indiana has a huge problem about 200 miles due north of them in-state....
