# | "Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler seeks more balance in his life" Yep, Temple really ran the ball that year.

it can be successfully argued that the primary reason we aren't winning a lot more now than we are is because the BS regime utterly failed at bringing in talent in 2010 and 2011, leading to a dearth of experienced talent over the last couple years.

# | "Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler seeks more balance in his life" we were also winning more when BS was the coach, so do we need to wait until we are hitting 10 wins to criticize SL as well?
Going fast pace just for the sake of going fast is a bad idea. If we were to get the other team in a personnel advantage, I agree we should be running to the line and not letting them substitute. I would much rather keep our defense OFF the field though. Having a tired defense, no matter how good, is bad.
I can't look up the stats right now but I would be curious to see the relationship of our best defensive ranking years vs the Time of Possession rankings for those seasons. The other team can't be moving the ball on us when we are on offense and if they aren't moving the ball, they likely aren't scoring.
The only difference I would say is... with Miami, everyone else abandoned ship, so the only ones left are the overly annoying ones

Okay, 2003 Stiney to 2011 Loeffler at Temple. Lefty turned in the 39th scoring O and 7th rushing O in the country. That's what he's capable of with a roster suitable to his scheme.
Something about a dinghy.
Thx for the correction. My fault on that reference. Purely bad form on my end!

I work with a handful of FSU grads... they can be cocky and mostly use the "everyone hates us cuz they ain't us" mentality, but I don't necessarily think their entire fanbase is that way.
Every fanbase has a group of bad apples... some more than others, but for the most part, generalizing about college football fanbases is silly.
I'm not sure if you did that on purpose or not, but I'm sure there would have been a disconnect.
The point still stands. Look at the talent Stiney had when he was turning in offensive output identical to what Loeffler has managed with bare cupboards and an eviscerated OL. That's the difference between leaning on talent to win ISO battles and actually having a scheme.
Give Lefty the talent Stiney had in the Tyrod years, then make a valid apples to apples comparison.
Had they lost a game they wouldn't have even been in the running.
Yes, strength of schedule and quality wins has some bearing, but only after the wins have been tallied.
It's a lot easier to defend an ugly win that a fluke loss. OSU NEEDED that stomping of Whisky to make up for the VT loss.
Beauty contest? Sure. But most of the contest is based on the record.

# | "Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler seeks more balance in his life" Scott Loeffler was not the OC at Florida, only the QB Coach (and only for two years, one with Tebow and one with John Brantley). Addazio was the OC at Florida when Loeffler was there.
Here's an easy way to explain why Bud would never take the HC job at UVA:
1) UVA is full of a bunch of douchebags.
2) Bud's not a douchebag.
3) Therefore, Bud would not accept a hypothetical HC offer from UVA because he would NEVER want to associate with a bunch of UVA douchebags.
4) Period - end of discussion.

Calcium > Iron
The Todd has ruined that word for me:

Don't all B1G marching bands have a similar moniker to TBDBITL?
My brother and parents were all NUMBs (Northwestern University Marching Band for those who don't know) and I seem to recall them being announced as the "The best band in all the land" during halftime.
Side note: I know Alabama's band is called the "Million Dollar Band". Rumors during that time period when we played them were because it cost $1 Million to take them anywhere.
Proof, shmoof.
The media assigns the headline telling the conclusion they want people to have, and it's up to the subjects to defend themselves.
The media has a narrative to support, so innuendo eventually will gradually give way to assertion. No hard evidence really necessary other than anecdotal.

# | Hokies RB Trey Edmunds Ready for a Season with "No Limp, No Gimp" After Several Injury-Filled Months Hope they got more iron in his diet so he stops breaking bones.
Priceless.
or pull a James Franklin: guy was flat out named head coach in waiting at Maryland. Leaves for Vandy. Spends 3 seasons making a crappy team look good, gets offered his dream job at PSU. Foster doesn't have to move up by leaving, just get some HC experience and he'll have the perfect resume for the VT job. I shudder to think what our team would look like in the meantime, but that's the most likely scenario I can think of where Bud gets the job, short of Frank just handing over the reins.

I fully intend to over-react if VT wins the game. We had day after day of threads about "Fire Fickell!" last year after the loss. Why should this year be any different?
