Will someone please tell me what they are seeing/hearing about Tremaine Edmunds!? The dude is 6'4 235lbs as a Freshman and we need a successor (and current depth) once Deon Clarke (who is vastly underrated) moves on next year.
Ha, um wait a sec... the music on this video has changed since yesterday...
something something Marcus Davis...
I find the diversity conversation to be a tough one. No one should be made to feel unwelcome based on their race, ethnic origins, or sexual preference. I also do not believe in preferential treatment based on being something other than white (but let me move out of the potential affirmative action debate).
I really don't care that there's no ethnic diversity in that sorority. If its by DESIGN, then thats racist and wrong. If only white, beach blondes have ever wanted to join and clicked well with the group, then who the hell cares?
The video is not offensive, not shot in widescreen (why!?!?), and has crappy EDM.

# | Teller Demoted? OL Shuffling? VT Football Practice Monday 8/17 Observations with the comment from SS about who played with a winning effort in the scrimmage I doubt he's playing with the 2s to improve them. This is to get him motivated.
Very nice write up. I'm very high on Peoples and Dooley (didn't crimmage) as key second team contributors. Stroman did a great job covering Hodges... blanketed him well despite the size difference.
There's reason for optimism!

# | Teller Demoted? OL Shuffling? VT Football Practice Monday 8/17 Observations I'm going to go with the thought that Wyatt's our best lineman and he's running with the two's to improve them, not as a demotion. The idea that you get better by playing with the best and if the two's are floundering a bit they perhaps needed to play with a great one.
Having been a class clown and had a few wake up calls in my life, this smells similar to me. I'm sure he will get the clue.

This was a reasoned and mostly respectful post until "get off your high horse..." and then it just derailed completely, and totally unnecessary.
My take was he was being sarcastic given the context of other posts, but oh well.
Ok, I'm stoked.
I can't wait to watch JC or Trey get loose and watch all the downfield blocking.
Thanks, Mason! Good info on some new Hokies!
Nice write-up, Mason, thanks. It's getting harder and harder for me to not jump right on that Hype Train. What you've reported here is as optimistic of an outlook from a Hokie team as I can remember in the last few years. The tools are there - can they put it all together?
Also, random tidbit - do WR's normally work with a sled? Seems like Coach Burden is a big fan of physicality and I love it:

Wait, that ABC store is gone now? Damn. That spot fueled many a hazy memory for a young VTFly. I'll have to pour some out tonight. Sigh.
"Dont act like you're not impressed!"
CJ wants to play ball for VT he loves the coaches and players here. However he's not coming back to a school that according to his lawyer "wrongfully" kicked him out.
CJ will end up at Miss St which is like 10 miles from his JUCO.
My dream experience for picking up extra tickets to games would be - on the morning of 9/7 Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz, and Jenn Garner (who is soooo on the rebound from goofball Ben) pull up to the house in the Hummer limo to pick me up and personally deliver my OSU tickets and me to the game that night. (After some good, clean fun of course.)
You asked...
I think you've hit the nail on the head here. I'm betting Whit's involvement was along the lines of telling the people who organize on-campus events, "Get the biggest draw you possibly can that weekend." I don't think as AD Whit would have anything to do with actually nailing down a contract with an artist or anything like that, but it shows the culture shift from Weaver to Whit. Whit wants to manufacture events, not just games. He gets the spectacle of the thing.
After reading my original post again, my "too much credit" line might have sounded harsher than I meant it to. I wasn't trying to insinuate Whit didn't deserve praise, some of the comments just sounded like Whit was the one who called up Brad's people, and I'm pretty certain that's not what happened. There's channels at VT that reach out to artists to plan events.
Precisely this, you can hear the coaches actually coaching technique. The clip with Settle on the sled is a perfect example, coach tells him to fix his hand placement. Those are the small things that didn't matter for a guy his size in high school, but now are extremely important.
I almost feel sorry for lolUVA players and their obvious lack of adequate coaching.
Lots of red meat to chew on; thank you for the write up.
Chuck Clark belongs in the Fuller/Facyson conversation. He will beast this year.
And CJ Carroll will surprise this year....yes, he's tiny, but the kid gets open and catches the ball. That's all you need in a possession receiver.
Thanks Joe! I finally changed my paypal email address, it should be the same as the address you have on file for me. Hopefully it will sort itself out once my new contribution comes through

great reference there.....leg for you.
^What he said. Didn't stand out one way or another. Don't recall him allowing any receptions, but the receivers outside of Ford and Carroll weren't playing particularly well.

# | Teller Demoted? OL Shuffling? VT Football Practice Monday 8/17 Observations I mentioned this in a Fan Day post how Augie Conte appeared very business like at the event; very stoic. His personality seems to be a complete 180 from Teller.

Very late to this thread, but it has been a joy to read so far. I've never posted here before, but have appreciated how civil the VT fans have been towards the OSU outsiders.
My two cents: These teams are pretty evenly matched. I really have no idea how the game will unfold, but I expect there won't be a ton of offense. Both teams will get a few big plays, but I don't see several 80 yard, 15 play drives happening. Whoever wins the field position battle wins this game. Last year Barrett was basically throwing pop fly interceptions to VT. I think I saw one VT DB signal for a fair catch on one of them ha. He was just scared shitless and throwing passes up for grabs. I'm actually sort of surprised he didn't throw 5 interceptions that night. That being said, I don't think VT will have the luxury of those type of freshman mistakes this year. JT will just take the sacks, and I suspect he will probably have to end up taking around 5 on game night. Dadi and co are going to get theirs. Ohio State isn't going to give VT a short field though, nor will Beamer help us out with field position. I see the score being like 17-14 or 21-17. Nobody is getting 35. Both defenses are improved and filled with NFL talent at every position.
I think Ohio State has a clear advantage with offensive ability and VT with special teams. Special teams could very well be Ohio State's downfall in this game. Not only are we missing our returners, but Ohio State fans forget we also have one of the absolute worst kickers in the country. Nurenberger was a paltry 13 for 20 last year and missed both his field goals in the VT game. The kicking situation got so bad that late in the year Meyer refused to use him unless it was under a 30 yard attempt. And even from nearly point blank range he was still only at 80%. In a game where points are at a premium, having a completely incompetent kicker can easily cost you the game. Huge advantage VT.
