# | Virginia Tech Football Recruiting: 2016 DE Jimmie Taylor Commits to the Hokies Explosive off the snap, shoots the gaps well and plays fast. Very skinny and raw, plus it looks like the competition isn't great, hence the 3* rating.
Reminds me of Dadi coming out of high school, though obviously there's no guarantee that he'll turn out that way. A high upside guy who fits the system very, very well. Seems like there are a lot of those in this class. Good pickup.

The whole star thing has been over-debated but that offer list tells me I want him on my team. I've had several fans of other teams talk about how VT's overall class ranking isn't that great, but that's based solely on the number of 4/5*'s and on top of that doesn't take into account different class sizes.
Also, with Deablo on board this gives us two of the top guys in the state of North Carolina in this class. And Mook last year as well. I like that we have been able to reach out in the midst of the VA poaching going on. (I'd love to win with a team of all VA boys but this has been important especially considering the downturn in wins)

You speak the truth! Especially if you're in the Corps of Cadets...
Haven't heard definitively what his status is. However, despite his recruiting ranking, Fisher wasn't a safety (which I said when I reviewed him coming out of FUMA) and then when the position change was made, he didn't do what he needed to do to add strength in order to be an every down player.

Furrer was my favorite player as a kid, he was a guest speaker to my freshman high school english class and it was like meeting a rock star. Randall is probably my favorite player of all time and is one of the more underrated players due to his historical slotting in the QB lineage.
Since it's been brought up before about increasing Tech's recruiting footprint, and that would depend on the vision you have for this website, but why not a whole new section designed to create some interest among players in Virginia Tech. Not necessarrily a hudl type thingy, but something legal, and cool and trendy and maybe interactive.
Guess you'll have to Settle for some Fullwood videos...

Granted. So it's up to our program to make sure good info is put out there regarding the situations of CJ Reavis and Holland Fisher. As for Caleb, let's see what he does with the rest of his career.
The fact that Reavis and Fisher were both positive about VT in their "goodbye" posts plays into our hands here.
I agree the situations are unique and there isn't much the football team or coaches could do to change them (from what we know as fans) but all of these situations can still be spun by opposing schools to create a less favorable perception of VT to Richmond area recruits.
Devils advocate: CJ was dismissed from the university. That's not on the football program, and he was in line to be a major contributor. Caleb still has a chance to make a name for himself under a new position coach at a position of need. And while I don't make it a practice to discuss the private lives of players, if it turns out this is truly grades-related, that also has nothing to do with the program.
I don't think the sky is falling but recruiting is definitely a "what have you done lately" game. CJ Reavis, Holland Fisher and Joel Caleb aren't real positive examples for star recruits out of Richmond who we want at VT. We need to flip the trend and gain some momentum.

He ties it back to his answer at 2:19, where he said he isn't focused on individual accolades during practice but rather unit cohesion and development. I think he's saying when we actually get into the season, THEN he'll focus on making individual strides in his own game. Right now it's all about the OL as a whole to him.
I totally agree with you. When was the last time there were this many playmakers on both sides of the ball? If the o-line can stay healthy, this is going to be a fun season.
Fuller got a great jump on the out route and got a hand in, and Ford still ripped the ball down.
