# | Players Address the Media After Virginia Tech's First Practice of the 2015 Season Reporter "Do you feel like youre going to make big strides this year?"
Teller: "Well youre only as strong as guys around you so right now, no, maybe this fall."
Wyatt teller certainly cannot be accused of using coach speak. He just puts it out there.
In reality, ODU wouldn't do much, because it's not like that top talent is feeding into us anymore.

Just look at who those neutral site games have been against: USC won NC, ECU in Charlotte, Bama won NC, Boise State finished in top 10, Bama again finished in top 10. It's not like VT is playing an easy neutral site game, they are playing some of the toughest teams in those years.
sorry, I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Let me rephrase:
I am sincerely interested in someone sharing specifically why they think it's bad. Having never watched Season 1 I am unencumbered with the expectations it fostered in those that did, and to me it really isn't that bad of a show. I find it enjoyable, sure that has something to do with taste but also I do know quite a bit about television and movies (full disclosure: I invest in them). What I see above in your comments (here and above in the thread) is that you think the acting is bad and the story overly convoluted.
Neither of those is about taste. You're making comments that should be able to be discussed with well reasoned thought, no? Why is the acting bad? What parts of the story are convoluted to you?
As I attempted to point out, I understand the criticism of Vaughn's Frank, but disagree with the core criticism for the reason I said. I would enjoy someone on the "it's bad" side of the table making the counterpoint. Same with the story to which I find complex, but not overly so and not to the point where I find it too difficult to follow what's going on. I think those are great discussions.
However, from most of the comments and sorry to say, yours included, the reason seems to start and end at:
It's bad
Season 1 was better
I could follow along easier in Season 1
Acting is bad
I will definitely watch Season 1, but after Season 2 is over. I am expecting it to be MUCH better. But as I said I would actually enjoy someone going beyond the basic criticisms.
Again, apologies if I came off abrupt.
If Dadi continues the trajectory he has shown year after year in his Hokie career, this season is going to be the stuff of legend.
If he and Ekanem stay healthy, and Dooley and Mihota are capable backups, I think we have a great chance to see all sorts of records set this year in terms of sacks and TFL, from all positions on the d-line.
Actually we've done pretty well for ourselves on the home/away games (Nebraska, Texas A&M) it's the neutral site games that have been killing us
Totally agree with Foster in that article as well where he said we could have won 10-11 games but injuries killed us. I think all our losses except one were within 7 points if I"m correct. That and the struggles on offense, however even with Brewer being an interception machine in the first half of the season we were still in everyone of those games. So that's hopeful. Frustrating year last year, I'm excited for this year. Even if we don't get the win against OSU, I think we can take the path that they did last year and perhaps get a rematch in the National Title game. That would be awesome.
Edit: Also agree with Dadi in the Dline. I mean I don't follow other teams players and such and know some teams hav some good Dlines but ours has to be one of the top 10 in the country at least looking at it coming in. DE's already named best duo in the country in the pass rush. The middle is no slouch either. Just need to prove it in games.
Maybe the coaching staff would finally have to get off their ass and legitimately adjust their recruiting strategy to be more national, just like every other big time program has done.
In reality, ODU wouldn't do much, because it's not like that top talent is feeding into us anymore. It's all Bama, FSU, PSU, Michigan, Ohio State, etc, and it's been that way for nearly a decade.
Any thoughts or observations about day 2?
We've put our time in as far as the early season "big time" games and haven't won one yet.
Ummm....don't mean to point out the obviouse but....

(but I know what you were getting at)

# | Players Address the Media After Virginia Tech's First Practice of the 2015 Season The team really seems to be enjoying some good chemistry.
This is how I feel Coastal Caroline will react when they move up to FBS. CCU puts allot of money into facilities and coaching already, it's close to the beach and it's got great location.
If VT is taking care of business they way they SHOULD be, this shouldn't be a problem.
This will certainly be an interesting year.
There is good basis for the optimism. I'm really hoping reality falls in line.
Fernley, I respect your analytical posts, but really, the reasons I don't love the show have all been mentioned already. The actors, the acting, some of the writing, the gratuitously convoluted plot all contribute to my feelings. I was just going for the joke with this post. In the end, though, I think this all boils down to taste, there is no accounting for it one way or the other. I also think if you watch season 1, you'll see, in the big difference between it and season 2, a lot of the reason folks are disappointed with this season. But if it's your cuppa tea, enjoy. Like I said, I'm looking forward to next year in hopes of another product as entertaining as last year's, which I really liked.
You did a great job!
thanks for the post! Interesting article.
That explains the big kick, should have noticed that right away. 9mm, even doubled, would be much gentler.
ODU becoming D1 is getting to be a bigger threat every week. They sit in the hotbed of VA's talent. Can you imagine if they ever got into a P5 conference? Yikes....

Email sent.
Are you using 10 or 12 team leagues? Just curious. TIA
Every college's stadium isn't regularly ranked in the top 5 or 10 by independent media sources; ours has been. It's a mistake to imply we only think it's the toughest because it's ours. VT has taken over its fair share of opponent stadiums, when an opponent wouldn't be able to find a ticket if the same game were at Lane. VT fans travel all over the country, and I've heard it many times that - other than LSU's Death Valley - nothing compares.
Keep in. I don't we've played a TON of freshmen the past couple seasons, so don't be shocked/alarmed if we don't see as many young guys contributing this year. That's a good thing.
That was an awesome speech from MV7. Short and to the point. That was a great way to start practice.

There are plenty of players from the Richmond area that the coaches can point to.
