I still don't think that BC loss kept us out of the NCG. Even with the loss, VT finished 3rd in the BCS, LSU finished 2nd. There is no way in hell the BCS would have leap frogged VT over LSU after the head to head beating we took from them earlier in the season.

Not disagreeing, but BC was #2 at the time, no? Tough to say what the voters would've done.

No team in the SEC does that and then goes on to finish behind the team they beat.

2007 was also before SEC bias was a real thing. 2007 was such a chaotic year, anything could have happened. LSU lost twice in triple overtime to two 8 win teams.

It's an iterative process. I am going to see what I can do to better support iPads down the road. Although, as of right now it's a single extra tap to get where you need to go.

I remember that being reported as well. Can probably find a write-up on TSL.

My very pregnant wife and I were at the ECU game and the oppressive heat and painful loss made for a rough weekend in Charlotte. Flash forward a year and we took our beautiful 9 month old daughter to her first Hokie game - versus Nebraska! Nothing but sweet memories from that day though to confess, we left before Tyrod to Danny and Dyrell and caught the end (along with many others) in the parking lot.

I'm a bit younger than most guys here, meaning, I didn't really start paying attention to college football until 2000ish range. So.....

If you watch closely on the blocked punt, Jonas Housewright and Greg Boone are blocking each other and that dude slips right between them...that game and this play in particular began the rapid decline in my relationship with my long term college girlfriend. That sounds negative, but looking back it might have been the best thing that ever happened to me. #silverlining

You're not addressing the point at all that he has the defense to thank for the trophy.

And FYI, Flacco was very consistent at the point of his contract.

The four previous years he was good for 60% completion, 3600 yards, 22 tds and 11 picks. That's stable franchise QB numbers. Not elite, but enough that you need to lock him down.

I think Ozzie Newsome knows what hes doing.

Everytime I see Wilson's KO return, I'm baffled by what GT was doing. We had like 3 guys who didn't have to block anyone. #35 for GT takes the worlds worst (and laziest?) angle. It's like GT only sent 7 guys out to cover that kick. Where is everyone? Did they all go left?

Wilson's fast and we hit a few blocks perfect and it was about the worst type of kick you can give a guy like Wilson in that situation. But, damn, GT misplayed the hell out of that.

There is no way in hell the BCS would have leap frogged VT over LSU after the head to head beating we took from them earlier in the season. The was the worst loss (points differential) in Frank Beamer's 30 year career as a coach, IIRC. No team in the SEC does that and then goes on to finish behind the team they beat. It's a nice 'what-if', though.

And damn that ECU loss stung. I was cooking in the mid-day heat nursing a brutal hangover, misery.

I agree 100%. I was pissed when we gave him the largest contract in the league (at the time). All I'm saying is the Trent Dilfer comparison is not accurate. That whole playoff run was Joe Flacco and the offense, not our D and protecting the football like usual.

All that shows is that he started a hot streak at the exact right time. A very hot streak, yes, but you don't give guys the most expensive contract in the league based on a hot streak, you do it based on consistent and sustained play, something Flacco has yet to show in his career.
