# | If the Big XII dissolves and is absorbed into the remaining Power 4, who do you want? Not to be argumentative, but I can tell you that loluva does indeed care about losing to us in football. I know a whole bunch of those folks and while they are forced to accept the status quo, they rankle at it. Sure, they make noises like it doesn't matter, but I make those same noises about swimming, tennis, soccer and lax. I've said it before, be it tiddly winks or a rock fight, I don't like losing to those 'hoo?s, and I guarantee you, they don't like losing to us one little bit, regardless of the sport. I have been to their stadium many times and have seen it full, and if they ever get a decent coach in there, we'll see it full again. Hopefully, that day will never come, at least at our expense, but there's a lot of money in C'ville, and a fair share of frustrated football fans.
I hope everyone used enough fireworks to signal him yesterday. George was on a tight schedule after all. He had to head over and help Santa bring Christmas to Iraq too.
I'll update with a pic if I ever get through to imgur, but I'm currently sitting on the Lincoln memorial to watch DC fireworks. Already met one hokie
I didn't see any more about it, hopefully it was just a mention of preparations for the concert, but it seemed to be part of a weather story. Sorry to be so uninformed and yet still so willing to post. Seems stupid this morning, but I was hoping for someone here to clarify.

Though every ACL tear and recovery is different, it just seems like the best option would be to let them recuperate and let the three likely starters carry the rock in 2015.
As much as it sucks to say there is a scary amount of statistical similarity between VT and WVU all time. Similar draft numbers, similar wins, similar All Americans, even similar number of weeks ranked but the AP.

I remember the recruiting battle that year, we thought we were on the list for David Cornwell and Jacob Park. Looks like both may be at Bama with Cornwell expected to take the starting job from senior Jake Coker. We missed on those two but we're ecstatic to get Ford. Now he is leaving. Just seems crazy.

Sounds funny but geographically, WVU helps with ND. Always thought Cinncy would be the next in if the Big XII was still around, mainly to help with ND.

# | If the Big XII dissolves and is absorbed into the remaining Power 4, who do you want? Geographically, the only team that would make sense to join the ACC is West Virginia, as stated above. Personally, I would love to restart that rivalry. Tech has played them in basketball the last 3 years, 2 being in Morgantown, and Tech players haven't had batteries thrown at them, so maybe it's time to rekindle the fire (we'll find out for sure in 2017). Then again, it was much more of a football rivalry than basketball. I am really interested to see how the 2017 game goes, and if fans behave, I think the ACC should reach out to WVU. The football program is usually solid with the exception of the last few years (just like Tech), and the basketball team will always be very good under Bob Huggins.
That's only in a geographical sense though. If the ACC decided geography isn't that important, we might see teams like Kansas join. They would be a bottom feeder in football, but certainly a great addition in basketball.
It's crazy to think that a little over 11 years ago, Tech was a member of the Big East. Now we're talking about 4 major conferences and the Big East as it was in 2003 has been completely broken up. The BE was an incredible basketball conference, and not a terrible football conference, contrary to belief. Tech was always a solid program after 1993, Miami was the best team in college football from 2000-2002 (IMO), Pittsburgh always fielded a tough team, WVU beat the Hokies in 2002 and 2003 and shared the BE title in 2003, Syracuse had their good years, and even Boston College was a solid program. Think, if Tech, Miami, and BC had stayed and Louisville and USF still joined (USF rose to #2 in 2007), that would have been a better conference than the ACC was until Clemson and FSU took off.
I didn't mean to reminisce like that. It's just crazy to think about how times have changed.

Welp, our Independence Day ended with a wimper. My wife and I thought we had a great idea for where to watch fireworks. We went to the top of Mill Mountain thinking we would be able to see the ones from the Salem Fair and the ones from Riverside in Roanoke. Our master plan didn't work though. Trees blocked nearly everyone's view. Only people at the very front of the viewing platform were able to see anything. There was a massive exodus off the mountain as everyone realized they couldn't see anything once they began.
Oh well. Won't be doing that next year.
This is the first year that I can remember in a long, long time that we have stayed in Western Mass for the 4th. Typically, we are with my husband's family in Fairfax, but with his mother's passing in February everyone did their own thing this year. So many years we would actually fly home on the night of July 4th. I really miss that because nothing makes you feel more connected to this diverse nation of ours than to fly hundreds of miles seeing fireworks displays everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE....big displays in cities and towns, on the beach in Atlantic City, on docks on Long Island, and backyards by the dozens. How is it that we are all so different and yet still more linked than we can even know? There is nothing like the 4th of July to make you feel grateful for the freedom that binds us all.

Heard something not so good about the Foo Fighter's concert. Just caught a little bit out of the corner of my eye/brain. Hope you guys going weren't too inconvenienced. Don't know the details, just knew some here were going and heard the concert mentioned on TV. Hope I misread what I didn't really see/hear.
So is it considered a successful fireworks display when the HOA is going to consider new rules about fireworks!!!
