Keep the ACC as is. It's an NCAA institution of 15 teams and is used for everything but football.

Top64 breaks off from NCAA (basically already have) and create 16 4 team pods. Add Boise, BYU and Notre Dame, ditch Vandy, Wake and Rutgers.

Vt plays in the Mid Atlantic with UMD, WVU and UVA. Play those 3 schools + 12 scheduled cross division teams (play 3 diff pods a year, 5 years you play everyone in the country). Start on Labor Day, finish by Christmas, 16 team playoff in January.

No more SEC, P12 TV deals. It's a semi professional league that funds all the other sports at a university.

Mr. Weaver was a tremendously brave man who fought a terrible illness valiently. Cheers to his accomplished life and may he be forever enjoying noon games in Heaven!

I wholeheartedly agree.

Rest in peace. The Hokie nation owes Jim a tremendous amount for how he handled our athletic department.

That was my thought as well. More fuel on my retire-as-soon-as-I-can fire. He definitely left his mark on the AD and will be remembered for growing our athletics up to the P5 level.

Rest in Peace, I always did enjoy his monday night interviews with Bill Roth

I think something more fitting would be the West Side Expansion of Lane Stadium being renamed the Jim Weaver Tower.

I think the US has had this game circled for a while.

It's exactly what I wanted. It's going to be a helluva game. I can't wait!!
I didn't see anything from Japan that we can't handle. All I see is GOLD!

I didnt believe the title of this thread when I read it! I had no idea how bad his health was. Rest in peace Jim. For all the ribbing all of us give you, all of us respect where you helped bring VT athletics.

Deep down, while England would have been the easier matchup, I think the US wanted Japan in the finals badly after what happened in 2011. I think this is what they wanted before the World Cup even started. Now we have a chance for legitimate revenge. Beating them for Olympic gold in 2012 was nice, but this is personal.

Shades of the VT vs Miami game in 2003. I think the US has had this game circled for a while.

Weaver, much like Steger, led the construction and renovation of many of our facilities. I'd have no problem having the new indoor facility be the Beamer-Weaver Indoor Practice Facility.

I agree. With Ford, I don't really get the feeling that he will catch a screen and take it to the house. Or catch a crossing route, make a guy miss and take it to the house. To me, he just is great at running the route and making a tough catch. Not much of a yards after the catch guy.

wow....
Unexpected by those not in the know.
His health was worsening, but obviously much more than he let on.
As much as is said light-heartedly, he was a giant to push VT forward.
Prayers for his family.

Japan it is...feel terrible for England though. I think we can handle
Japan for sure. They got incredibly lucky last night. REMATCH!!

RIP J.W. He should have his picture on the wall of the new indoor facility .

He was a tremendous person. He did a lot for Tech athletics, and I hope that Hokie fans all around the globe remember him for that. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP Mr. Weaver.
