I fully endorse the Bitter Plan. The only problem is that some teams will want to keep playing cross-divisional rivals (like FSU/Miami and GT/Clemson). Solution: when the rival isn't on your conference schedule, play them as OOC games that do not count towards conference record since that is now allowed.
Regarding recruiting ,Fedora is a fast talking , snake oil salesman that will tell recruits anything they want to hear. UNC should extend his contract and increase his pay, as he fits in so well with the dishonest and obfuscating culture there. Maybe this type of behavior will be punished , but have seen too many of this type of coach just move on to a better job.
I have been saying over and over to people that if you are assuming that the team that ran over Wisconsin, beat Alabama, and throttled Oregon is going to be the team that runs out onto the field in Blacksburg, you are most likely very, very wrong. The entire team is not back. It's a new year, new team, new chemistry, new pressures, etc. No one knows how this team is going to be. They could be as good or better than last year's version, but it is likely that they will not be anything near the team we saw on 1/12/15, especially considering this is game #1. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, this will be game #1 for the Hokies too. Hopefully, they will progress as the season goes along, but the unknowns that come with new year/new team should be sufficient to cause a reasonable person to be restrained in predicting the relative strengths of these teams.
I'm not sure if Tech is ready to make the jump to chrome helmets. I would honestly rather see us go the other direction and wear more matte helmets. The ones we have worn that were matte were huge successes.
That's all down the road though, schools and donors worry about the here and now.
There is something about Fedora that tunes me out. I don't hate or dislike most of the ACC coaches, but Fedora irks me a bit. Maybe its that stupid vizor.
How about we just score from more than 20 yards out every time...problem solved.
I don't think the cheer was stupid. Infectious drum beat and a clever double entendre, definitely not stupid. Sophomoric? Well, yeah, maybe, I guess. Embarrassing? Yeah, sometimes I guess I could see someone might feel that way. But it was FUN, and it was ours. I can live without it, but I'll miss it nonetheless.

But where is the downside for him? He can't be punished for what he says or promises, if things get bad enough he leaves for another job.
I agree with getting rid of the assigned cross-division matchup. That alone would double the frequency of meeting all other cross-divisional foes.
Yes, some yearly rivalries would be disrupted (Florida State - Miami; UNC - NC State), but let them schedule those as out of conference games that don't count against their conference record if they want to play them every year.

You'll find successful seasons and player numbers. Fans aren't making their purchases based on stripes/no stripes.
Should go without saying, but just make sure that the poster provides information that is current and relevant, and if it is #sources, then make that clear. Wikipedia isn't known for it's profound accuracy. Maybe have a separate section for unverified scuttlebutt.
We lost Byrn and Stanford, but he thinks the WR corps will be better.
Not to get too far off topic here, but has Stanford completely left the team? Last I saw/heard, he's still living in Blacksburg and enrolled at VT. I suppose it's possible he could still be in school and no longer with the team but I just hadn't heard the final verdict on him.

I think UNC is going to be the team hanging around 4th place in the Coastal. There's going to be 3 or 4 teams jockeying for the top spot in the division for most of the season, and UNC is going to eventually come out on the bottom, but won't mathematically be eliminated until November.

The assertions that football won't be touched by the NCAA are ludicrous; no one can know that and I feel like it is a huge bluff on his part. As I mentioned in another thread, UNC as a whole has a massive problem with their accrediting body. If (when, hopefully) UNC gets hit with penalties, comments like those he made to the flipped recruit are going to absolutely blow up. The impression will be reaffirmed that UNC is willing to do or say anything just to get/keep athletes.

# | Meta: How do we want to organize our discussion on recruiting? I like the suggestions about standards for posting. I hope those will take hold.
Probably the biggest issue is curation; in that respect, I like point (B) because it says "here is the official stuff that we know at this point." I might even build on that to suggest a link like the "French on the Bench" at the bottom of the Active Discussions to the "official" (staff) posts (Alex's stories and quarterly updates from Joe and anyone else). I think interest in recruiting is just as high as film reviews at this point, so it may merit its own section. I know we have a recruiting forum, but a direct link to filtered posts would be very nice. I know I tend to go straight for Active Discussions rather than the Forum link; that may be worth polling the TKP community - "how do you find the content that is interesting to you when you visit?"
Maybe the Active Discussions can even be parsed/grouped a bit. Headings for Football, Basketball, OT, Recruiting, Front Page, etc. based on the tags assigned when making the post. That way there's a clear delineation of "here's what we're talking about" and people can easily spot topics of interest. That may help in eliminating double posting and weak threads that provide little information or just ask questions because stuff is hard to find, especially if you're not here every few minutes day like me, and unread threads build up. We certainly don't have a big problem with this, but maybe it's something to think about. This basically feeds off the question in the previous paragraph.
Aside directly to Joe - if there are more things that I can do (curating, merging threads, etc) to help out, let me know. Maybe that's more of an infrastructure/CMS/TKP 3.0 issue, but keep it in mind. I'm happy to help.

Yeah my initial opinion of the gray pants when the pic of James Gayle wearing the gray uni originally leaked was that they looked AWFUL. I thought the pants looked good in person though when we wore them vs Maryland with the maroon tops and Hokie Stone brain buckets (thanks for that one AJ Hughes).
I appreciate the new thread... Would rather not wade through 200 posts in a general 2016 recruiting thread.
I like the idea of proposal B. Maybe even do it quarterly. That way instead of having a year long thread that gets cumbersome and outdated after a few months, you get a new thread with relatively up to date info. I know you guys are already stretched pretty thin, but having staff managing the quarterly posts would ensure that they stay up to date.
I also really like the idea of standardizing the format of the posts (content and titles).
On a somewhat related note, has anyone seen or heard from ltrpeter2000 lately? He was a pretty regular commenter that always posted good info.
WOW, have things changed . Even public high schools are now recruiting kids. Next will be pre school.
