So we all know the VT tradition of the snowball fight on the Drillfield
Do we know whether or not JMFF participated this year?
What an "orange" move.
🦆
Game 1 for today. VT 4 Binghampton 1. Go HOKIES. Kleiman with the win; Carrico with the save. Mazzarone with HR along with Foster.
Given that my soon to be ex-wife loves Big Trouble in Little China, I feel steadfast and justified in my prior assertions.
SO CRATES JOHNSON AND HERMAN THE KID
Reminds me of when they wanted to rename R E Lee HS in Staunton. They did a public poll on what the new name should be and Schooly McSchoolface High School was one of them.

A realistic expectation for a well funded/high achieving team in the NIL/Portal era is:
- Super stars at first string - these are the guys who are leaving after 3 or so years for the draft.
- Dependable guys at second string - these might be guys who are 4th/5th years. Probably not draft picks. But dependable. There will be some turnover here each year.
- Young guys with a high upside at the third strings - these guys will have a lot of turnover YoY.
Can't have a two deep without drop off in this era. Not possible for anyone.
So apparently this match will not happen now. I dont know if Harer is technically forfeiting but his dad was on a podcast saying they want the individual state title more so dont want Bo to have a chance to learn what he is facing in tonight's dual so he wont wrestle Bo tonight. Harer's team probably running someone else out so its not a forfeit. His Dad is the head coach so he gets to make the call. I would be pissed if I was one of his teammates fighting for a State Dual Title.
The Harer (199-2) vs. Bassett (155-0) matchup will not happen at team state duals tonight.Coach Harer explains on @PAPowerWrestle... pic.twitter.com/LeK1Z2xUnT— The Wrestling Room (Pat Mineo) (@MrPatMineo) February 6, 2026
Seriously... Joe and the mods made their decision, we don't need to keep bringing it up. End of story.
Yeah, remember the pure delight the first time I read the name. 19 y/o me was tickled.
MUSCO are basically the sports lighting people. They do just about all of the field lighting at the local level in NOVA. They are good people to work with and they already have a bunch of MUSCO stuff on campus.
The new lights will likely have the same 25 warranty that most jurisdictions get. It will also allow for the lights to be tied into the MUSCO app which makes troubleshooting and scheduling the lights a lot easier. I realize the stadium is a manned site so automatic scheduling matters a lot less but still.
The new lights will likely use the same conduit with new smaller wires since they need less power. I am buttoning up a multi field conversion at work and the wire is significantly smaller.
I am assuming that the current structure can be reused with just a fixture replacement.
MUSCO has both a standard show lights package where all the lights are white and some standard programmed flashes. This type is similar to what is at Patriot Park North in Fairfax County. If you go crazy and upgrade the fixtures to allow colors, you can do all kinds of things with show lights. At one time, Capital One was putting in this set up at a diamond they were building in Tysons, but I dont know if that ever happened.
another one i just remembered - Used Cars
Or a lot of people agree but have decided not to engage on this topic since it is moot anyway and piling on feels like talking about someone who isn't here to defend themselves.
Well crepe, here comes another blintz of food fighting...
They used to have them in Cassell and close enough to the stands that you could read the label
Are they still there?
Toasted frozen waffle cream cheese and jelly sandwich
Thank me later
It could be like you said a way to win the presser but on top of that a fundraising strategy that he will likely keep spouting in order to motivate donors
The second string guy is key...you need someone who you can win with and someone who isn't going to resent being a backup. Those guys are far and few between.
Lol - went through a rough stretch of unemployment prior to this moment. Just happy things are finally coming together.
We have had discussions around this on some of the other threads that dig into NIL strategy and it rears its head here as well. When others are all-in on paying a top 40-60 that will be on the field this year, can you retain the talent you had been developing or attract top end talent to be "the guy".
Take into account the third deep isn't necessarily someone you plan to travel with from how he described it. Its someone you know needs work to be ready so that is mainly a practice focus rather than a game day focus. Game day focus is definitely the two deep.
Two things for me on this.
Wake Forest game was lost in the first half. I know we gave up the late lead but that 1st Half was legitimately the worst half of basketball this team has had in ACC play mainly driven by Neo sleepwalking. May have only trailed by 4 at halftime but Hokies had 13 of their 19 turnovers in first half. Neo and Hansberry combined for 13 turnovers in that game.
The change in rebounding strategy based on personnel. I am not surprised to see that this is the worst defensive rebounding team Young has had but a big part of it seems by design. In quite a few games you can see the Hokies setting up for transition opportunities before they actually obtain the ball. Its like the reverse uno of Young's "Fire and Forget" mentality on offense where he prioritizes being set in half court over pursuing second chance opportunities.
You will see the shooting guards drift up and towards the sidelines after opponents shots rather than attacking the basket. Hammond is an exception as he attacks the rim on both ends. I dont know if its overconfidence in Lawal and Hansberry or just an aversion by the guards to contact but some of it seems to be by design.
One thing of note on this team is they are by far the highest scoring team Young has had here, averaging 80 ppg. Nearest other Young teams come was 22-23 and 23-24 at 74.1 and 74.9. His other four teams were between 68.6 and 72 ppg. The counter is this team is also allowing the most per game of any Young team here at 74 ppg.
My biggest problem with those last four minutes is the seeming lack of fundamental basketball cognizance especially in Neo. Big lead, little time means burning every second becomes even more critical yet frequently we see this team launching up bad threes with around 20 seconds on the shot clock or making unnecessary risky passes to try to get quick hitter baskets when burning 30 seconds of clock is way more productive.
Get a good shot yes but if the other team isn't fouling you burn as much of the shot clock as effectively possible. The Stanford loss was the worst loss of the year because it should be impossible to blow a 13 point lead in 2:52 if you just hold on to the ball.
As I always say.... If you want 3 deep, I'll go twice.

I mean, if we're doing this, I'll repeat something I said pre-ban. DC is clearly a thoughtful dude who gets so wrapped up in arguing that he completely loses the plot. He'd have a real point, sometimes an interesting and slightly contrary one. Then someone would push back and the interesting point would be completely lost in just not wanting to lose the argument. Which would derail entire boards. Over and over and over again.
Him at his best made the conversation more interesting. Him at his worst made everything a negative, argumentative mess. I imagine it actually did drive engagement, but it made the community aspect of all of this a lot harder to maintain. Hard to focus on the ocular migraine side plots when someone is throwing the same NIL firebombs into every thread. I miss the best of him, I don't miss the wider impact that he had on the general conversation.
