Yes, I recognize the importance of being in the top 100 (and I falsely assumed he'd be top 100 after his AO performance), but:

  • He won the NCAA singles, so he's guaranteed a wild card into the USO - first round loss at the USO will earn you $110k this year.
  • Between NIL rules and his recent success, he's likely not paying for strings, shoes, frames, etc (small chance he's getting paid, but unlikely based on my outdated understanding of this stuff)
  • He's been competing on the challenger circuit - he won two challengers (Columbus then Tiburon) since losing first round of the 2025 USO - so he still has travel expenses and stuff to cover (although not physio, and he probably isn't traveling with a coach)

So, I don't understand his decision at all.

To me, this is like Bill Gates/Zuck/whoever staying at Harvard after their then-startups received ample venture funding. His career has started. Go do that.

It sounds like a no-brainer decision to go all in on being pro for Zheng, but it's actually a much harder choice. He's currently ranked 148. You need to be top 100 in professional tennis to be guaranteed entry into the Grand Slams. Anything lower and you generally have to grind out Challengers tournaments and get through qualifying rounds to even get matched up against Alcaraz or Sinner at the big Masters series and Grand Slams where all the money is. Sure, he hit big and made $140k at this tournament. But when you consider having to pay for travel, coaches, physios, etc., you simply have to break into the Top 100 to make it close worthwhile.
I agree he can't have his cake and eat it, too. He should have thought of this before entering the AO, but I get why he's trying to run back to college.

You have a good shot at getting a tee time on 3/14 but if you can't, a $100 to the guy at the starter shack by the Craddle should help.

"Hey kids, did you ever wonder what an NBDL scrub would look like on your favorite D1 basketball team??? Well, thanks to the heedless supporters of NIL and the folks at GetYourBag Industries, we bring you the Charles Bediako Experience. Why use University revenue to pay for academic upgrades or offer Faculty competitive wages if you can't make the Sweet Sixteen? That's for losers. Winners want to watch Charles average 6 and 6 while their massive Student Loans accrue soul-crushing amounts of interest. He's not really that good and we still can't beat Florida or Vanderbilt, but give Charles some Cash and he'll give you a win over Auburn. Thanks to your Athletic Fees, and brought to you by the makers of Diego Pavia's Endless Eligibility, we can finally pay Charles what every 23 year-old former professional athlete deserves!!"

For the true humor. LOLUVA prepared custom shirts with a Frederick Douglass quote on them for our game. They also misspelled his name...

Really? We've done it here numerous times and no one has ever objected. It's silly and fun.

Why do you hate fun, Little Bobby Tables?/s

Also, I never have, nor do I have the desire to visit TSL so I have no idea what thier lounge is. They certainly down own Caption the Picture threads.

Oh, I guess breakfast was usually ok enough to approach fine sorta, but like you, I wouldn't recommend it either. I do get close, and the Palisades is not super close to Pearisburg, and when grandpa's buying, well, wattaya do? Been 13 years or so since I left the area, so maybe they have gotten better, but when we've been back visiting, nobody goes to F&F that we know, opting for "better" somewhere else.

We got the bacon sweatpants, biscuits, then bacon before the win over the safety school LOLUVA. A great afternoon. FAM!

My handicap slid north on me last season. Well, to be fair, I had a few low rounds late 2024 that were pushing the beginning of 2025 down. Got another cortisone shot in my knee and it's feeling much better. And down a few pounds from mid summer last year. Hoping I can put everything together to get more consistent, play some more this year, and drop the cap back to 2024 levels...in the high 5's.

As far as playing more, need to take that 2 hours here and there and go play 9 holes. Get out more. Go mentally unplug. And figure out the weekend schedules better. They were all over the place last year. Hoping to play more than every two weeks and hoping the weather cooperates. If I can do that, should be able to hone the game a little better and get more consistent.

Also would like to get actually fit for a new driver. I've hit a few others and none of them have been able to knock the current TSi2 out of the bag. It's over 5 years old now, and while it's solid, I feel that a fitting would be able to get me more consistent and longer.

I caught parts of the game and logged on today just to comment on her near constant full arm shoves. I saw it multiple times. Just to echo what others have said on here, the officiating was atrocious - late whistles, incorrect attribution, and just a ton of head scratchers where they called a foul on someone just because the shooter fell down whether or not there was actual contact.

But kudos to the team for fighting through it and closing out strong!

Drinking a 750ml of bourbon in 18 holes was proving to be a task when I had to do it solo.

That's how you make SaucedHokie.

I went "I could've sworn I've seen 'caption the pic' threads on here before..."

Turns out I have, they've been posted on TKP here and there throughout its history including a time or two from Joe himself.

But recently, Mr. street here has the market cornered on them with 12 since 2023. Don't know what anyone wants to do with this data, just thought it was interesting and I think they have a place here on TKP, in moderation.
