post them here so I can update the list. List has 37 members of the team including the coaching staff and official Hokie, ACC, and NCAA accounts for baseball.
I don't think this is a tryout. The ACC tourney has always been moved around for bball. It's been held in DC, Greensboro, Charlotte, Tampa, and Atlanta within the last 10 years. The North Carolina schools would never allow it to stay in NYC and to be honest it wouldn't make any sense to keep it there as geographically most of the schools are further south. I don't think the ACC tourney will ever have a permanent home and to be honest I like it that way.

The thing is, they are searching for a premier venue to hold the tournament. Greensboro Coliseum is not nearly as high profile as MSG or the Barclay's Center.
Agreed. Best way to get ND into the conference as a full member is to make BC and Navy permanent in-conference rivals.
Now, if the ACC would only then realize that they've given up DC/Baltimore/Philly, then they could also add non-football members: Villanova and Georgetown.
Recentralize the ACC around Carolina to the south and DC/Annapolis/Philly to the north. Bring in the 17th and 18th schools to play Olympic sports. Atlantic Coast. Boom.

Agreed. Richmond, VA, Charlotte, NC are the best potential suitors for the ACC tourney. Maybe even Baltimore, DC, or Philly, but I still think they're too far north.

I absoslutely agree, I was just saying that if we get ND to join, it doesn't matter if #16 is UConn, Navy, or whoever.
As for who that team should be, I am more in favor of adding the Naval Academy.
As an annapolis native, I would absolutely love this. It would be a great reason to go home every other fall.

Yowordup. Yeah I gots family in that field. What you need? They'll charge a lot but package stays in the bag until it reaches the destination. Won't nobody look.
I think this is a terrible move, we only have 2 teams in the conference up that far north. Most of the teams are in mid atlantic which means for fans to attend it will not be cheap. DC would have been a better location.
Damn... Duke just got a huge home court advantage in those future tournaments

# | Bitter blog - BOV approves financing plan for indoor practice facility The total area available looking at the map online is about 600 feet along Washington Street and 400 feet along Spring Road. Cassell currently occupies about 200 feet of the space along Washington Street and all of the space along Spring Road. Trying to do construction in the 300 clear feet between the Practice Facility and Cassell would be extremely difficult. It already would be a really tight fit to try to reuse that space for a basketball arena. They essentially have to turn the arena on a 90 degree angle to use that space. The court would be parallel to Washington Street in its new construction. The requirements of pouring concrete pillars, foundation and other key support measures would probably mean they would need Cassell completely gone to ensure that all of these structures are level with each other as part of the construction. I would imagine that we are looking at the needing to go at least 400 feet below street level to construct this facility.
Dunking over the goalpost is EXACTLY what i would do if i were athletic enough to play professional football. This is a tragedy.

# | Bitter blog - BOV approves financing plan for indoor practice facility We wouldn't want to really move a basketball facility anyway, because one of the main purposes behind putting the Greenberg practice center where we did was to allow for it to connect underground to Cassell. If we were going to do this, one thought would be to fill up Rector with a bunch of temporary bleachers for a couple seasons, tear down Cassell and rebuild it in its current spot. I'm sure we could easily get 8,000 or so temporary seats in Rector for games, and assuming there wouldn't be any fire code issues, it would be perfect. We could also use that opportunity to play 'home' games in a few areas throughout the state, especially during student breaks, to give alumni closer games to watch.
And lets be honest, the current Cassell footprint is perfect for an expanded arena. We could do an arena with an upper bowl, and we would still have plenty of room on the sides for an expanded concourse due to the support beams that extend to the sides of the current building. And while we're doing this, it would present us with the opportunity to completely overhaul the current offices that are located behind Cassell to bring that area up to par with the rest of the architecture surrounding the practice fields. Do all that, and you suddenly have built yourselves a first class athletic center where football and basketball intermingle perfectly. It would be a showpiece to any recruit you bring to campus, and it would be a big sell for us.

Plus as phillyhokie said Cassell is an extremely heavy building. you could excavate next to it but you would essentially have to build a supportive structure on the Cassell side so that it doesn't fall in the hole. Then you have issues with water and subsidence. Finally, typically with any modern sports facility the sub-levels are extremely important, not just for foundation, but for operations reasons. To construct it piecemeal would never work.
If your going to just replace Cassell then why not build it on the Cassell parking lot and then demolish Cassell. That way you don't miss any basketball and football can get back their missing practice fields.
But what if you don't make it over the goalpost?
I will plan to be there, will aim for five but it will depend on traffic.
