The whole sentiment that we're such a bad program just annoys me. No, historically, we've not been one of the better programs in the country, but under Greenberg we took that step from awful to respectable. We went from a program that was dreadfully awful and turned it into one that could go into anyone's house during any given season and knock them off. We were always a bubble team, even during the years we had no business being there. We have more wins over #1 teams in the 10 seasons since joining this conference than many teams have in their program's history. Greenberg rose the expectations of this program, and its why we did not settle for allowing Johnson to continue going about it the ways he had.

Under Greenberg, you'd be hard pressed to convince me we weren't knocking on the door for a top 5 team in the ACC. If we didn't have a first round bye in the ACC Tournament, we were knocking on that door. And then, after a class of senior laden talent graduated, we struggled badly, which you'd expect from any program (ahem... Marquette) but had a great recruiting class primed to come in before our AD went full on senile loony-bin and fired our coach almost 2 months too late and replaced him for a bargain basement hire. That was a mistake. It was a mistake that was just rectified and then some.

For those saying we're the worst program in the ACC, we're only the worst if you ignore the direction we're trending and completely ignoring that we're under new management who has an agenda to turn things around after running things on the cheap for decades. We have guys in place that know what they're doing, who are willing to spend the money to compete, who have great reputations with their staff, and are backed by a fanbase that is chomping at the bit to be rabid about more than just football. This fanbase is energized, we're excited, and we're going to show it tonight.

For too long we have been a sleeping giant, just allowing everyone else to throw their chips into the pile while waiting for our time to make a move. Sometimes, when you're dealt a straight flush you have to throw into the pot. We just went all-in.
