Thanks, hopefully they find some way to keep that grandfather clause. It pains me to see that logo go, mainly because of the correlation between that logo and the company I was in in the Corps of Cadets.
Nah. Nothing to be afraid of. You put one permanent crease in the wrong place, you never have to iron her things again.
Yeah it was the norfolk office. I was there for over a year, the only animals we had in there on the regular were three cats that live in the office (they lived on the floor I worked on, it was so weird). Other than that, the only animals that came in were temporarily held in the handful of designated "animal rooms." Those rooms can get kind of dirty when the animals are there but it was only confined to those rooms while I was there.
Does anyone know what type of phone it was? Was it an iPhone, Android, old school flip? I think it's really hard for everyone to be speculating without knowing ANYTHING about the offending item. Maybe the ringtone was LOLUVAs fight song?
So. Many. Questions.
Sweet baby Jesus somebody please replace those sweet little girls with pictures of Sammy
Motivation....I likes it.
100% agreed on the phone.
I coach a travel basketball team and one of my pet peeve's was no phones at practice. At our first practice one of the players was texting or tweeting and I told the entire team: No phones in the gym. Zero tolerance. Turn off your phone and put it away. When you are with the team you will respect your coach and your teammates and don't waste our time. You can tweet and text after practice is over.
I respect his decision.
PETA will always dump on MV7 since it gets them a lot of mileage and donations$$$. Even if MV7 gave them $ and offered to work with them they would turn him down. They benefit more by tapping into people's hatreds and fears (politicians do the same). We are all playing into this horrible meme that will not resolve anything.
Unfortunately that isn't how a lot of this latest generation of Diva players were brought up. Its why we love the Fullers so much. Their parents didn't allow the Diva monstrosity to take hold of their kids. A lot of these other kids and their parents have it in their mind that their kid is the best ever and all along their playing career thus far, they have been the top of the heap. A coach comes along and challenges that notion with a dose of reality and both Diva and parent are outraged. Think Toddlers in Tiaras in basketball shorts. The way the media, the AAU programs, and some coaches treat "superstars" these days is the root of the problem. If all you heard all your life was that you were the best and one coach comes in and challenges it, than that coach must be an idiot or out to get you. Too much showboat and not enough mental development.
I thought this was a Vince Vaughn movie poster
He's not a hokie any more he hasn't "earned" anything from me. I'll treat him like I'd treat any player from any other team.
Because he took defense and football and badassly morphed it into what is known as FOSTERBALL.
...Because he fathered Sam Rogers.
Did you work at the Norfolk office? My dad went there for work once and refused to set foot in there ever again. He said there was animals running around everywhere and animal feces all over the place. He told his company to turn down the contract so they wouldn't have to go back there again. He even thought about calling another animal abuse place on them because of how bad the conditions were even for then animals in there.
I'm gonna miss your old name. I thought it was hilarious (and very truthful). But your new one has #SOMUCHSWAG
While I'm not a PETA supporter, as a pet owner, you know that there comes a time when animals are suffering more than living. When there is no possibility of rehab or getting back to good health. The only thing is delaying the inevitable. I'm certain there are many humans who wish they had this opportunity as well. Ones with degenerative diseases, cancer, and other terminal illnesses. People who would rather go on their own terms than go through pain and suffering. It's the reason we occasionally will see those people commit suicide or sign for a DNR while receiving treatments in the hospital. The expenses involved in keeping something that is dying alive for just a little bit longer often become the deciding factor, and many times they outweigh the benefit of living and suffering. Each person has their own thoughts on the subject and a forum dedicated to everything Hokie is not the place to get into arguments over the matter.
Some thoughts on PETA...
-In high school a local PETA group showed up at the McDonalds I worked at and threw raw meat on some of our vehicles (I found that humerous because they handled raw meat and it's McDonalds so chances are there is no real meat there anyway). There were more PETA members there that day then fans at UVAs spring game.
-I notice on twitter these guys troll harder then most. It's like that is the only way they can keep their organization relevant. Kind of like how UVA likes to talk a lot about their lacrosse teams.
I have no issue with people wanting to ensure that animals are being treated correctly however for the most part PETA goes overboard
Seemed to me that he was stating the first ever National Championship won by the school in any sport, which would overlook the many accomplishments our athletes have had in Track & Field. In wrestling, yes, he'd be our first national champion, but hardly the first ever individual champion at VT. Unfortunately though, the claim used against us is that we have never won a team national championship and that would remain true, but we have plenty to celebrate with our individual successes. And besides, we can continue to tell UVA about how we beat them in those small sports of Wrestling and Swimming while they tout superiority in sports we don't offer like Rowing and Men's Lacrosse.
i think he's referring to the fact the "m" in mnc stands for mythical
Maybe it is the dad that has a grudge against Buzz. I think any good coach would release someone who is not committed to the program.
No they do a lot in their own control to find the animals homes and they have very good ties with the local shelters. There's two critical things you have to understand here: 1. Peta can't use all of it's money to cure sick animals. If they did that, they would be out of money quickly and there would be lines down the block of people asking for help. Peta's goal is to change the mindset of people so that terrible things don't happen to animals in the first place. They're all about fixing it on the front end, not the back end. 2. They do everything in their power to get these animals to a place where they can be adopted. They have close ties with the local animal shelters and they try to relinquish most animals to these shelters without even taking them into it's own care. (Peta isn't a shelter) What happens often times is these shelters won't take these animals because it's a burden on them. The shelters have to report their euthanasia numbers just like peta does and they don't want to inflate their numbers by taking in animals they know they'll have to off. It's a dirty game but peta never backs down from what the public thinks is right/wrong so they do the dirty work that others are scared to take on themselves.
The fix all to this would be for peta to just start a medical/adoption shelter but they realistically can't do that. They're the biggest, most known animal organization out. If they tried to do something like that then like I said, they would tap their resources and have no means to pursue their actual mission which is to change the culture, not just clean up problems.
And I'm not defending everything they do. They take things very far on a lot of accounts (and they do that for the exact reason that this thread exists. They want people to talk as much about peta as much as possible. Good or bad. They feel if they get somebody to the website no matter how they have to do it, there's a chance that person could see some horrific footage and change their habits and this happens quite often). I'm strictly speaking to the euthanasia subject.
Edit: I'm not trying to turn tkp into an animal rights discussion forum, just providing perspective as someone who's actually been inside the organization. It's really easy to just read stuff on the internet and form opinions, I've seen it with my own eyes and even donated many weekend hours to helping these animals. Just take the euthanasia stuff with a grain of salt is all I'm saying.
Well, he'd still be Tech's first individual champion, which I think was the point that was being made.
And next year's follow up is gonna be glorious...
I'll admit that I have a tendancy to be over-apologetic when it comes to current and former players (*looks at Marcus Davis, makes fist, does double chest tap*) and I could be wrong, so this is the last comment I'll make about it.
There is obviously more to this than the phone incident, and we aren't privy to that information. I think it's in both parties best interest to part ways. I don't think it necessitates passing judgements of character on Thompson.

Buzz was handling team business in that meeting and in that incident. That is obvious.
