# | Babcock Press Conference regarding Coaching Change 9:30 AM Shott Media Center It doesn't eliminate Jeff Capel who is a current Duke assistant but has head coaching experience from stints at VCU and Oklahoma. He signed multiple McDonald's all Americans at Oklahoma and knows the ACC landscape well from being at Duke since 2011. He's still relatively young at 39 years old, only 2 years older than Shane Beamer, so even with his experience could still consider him an up and comer.
I will never root against a 16 seed. Even if they are LOLUVA. This is actually a bit of an epiphany for me.
Then ESPN for some reason thinks I'm an insider, and only for the NCAA tournament. I get the same information from yahoo as I do ESPN.

They guys I play fantasy football with sent me an invite, so I went ahead and added my bracket to the TKP group as well. I don't really follow basketball much (at any level), except for what I read here. I ended up with an ACC/Future ACC bias for the most part and Louisville beating UNC for the championship. The one exception to that was UVA losing to Coastal Carolina, though being both a fan of VT (LOLUVA) and a Liberty Alum (Beat Coastal!) I of course wish they could both lose.
After sleeping on it, I realized that Jeff Capel will be the next head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies Men's Basketball Team.
I have accepted this as fact.
Congratulations Coach Capel. I look forward to many victorious years under your basketball reign.

Yeah, Hunter Cantwell had a rough day but like already stated he kept coming back for more. He had a lot of heart and needed every ounce of it.
It was ONE of the best all around VT Defensive games that I can remember in recent memory. Capped off with a James Anderson INT return for a TD.

Speaking of watching games, does anyone know what happened to Hokietapes on Youtube? Usually if a channel/video is taken down for DMCA claims, it will have it mentioned along with who made the DMCA claim, but it appears to me like the account just vanished.
Calling UVA football mediocre in general is a stretch. If their football team gets to be mediocre then our basketball team should be considered mediocre.
My first year at Liberty, our kicker lost us a lot of games including missing a potential game tying FG with less than a minute left against VMI for homecoming. We were only 4/11 on FGs that year, and only won one game, we did get a better coach the next year though and watching the games became much more enjoyable.

Yeah, he was a pleasant surprise against Alabama and the absolute star player he was matched against. Couldn't believe I was seeing him do so well his first game of his college career against that guy on the defending National Champs.

I think it would depend on comfort level and who wins the right tackle job. Gibson is a very athletic guy and could probably be a good blindside protector if he is more comfortable on the right. I have been vocal that I think McLaughlin may be better suited to right tackle in terms of NFL foot speed, but he is a VERY good run blocking left tackle.
Supposing Andrew Ford emerged as the starter next season, would RT and LT be switched?
I'm not sure who RT is but Logan Thomas graduated. He may be big enough to be a lineman but I don't think he'll be an interior lineman.............

Maybe, just as French and others have mentioned before, sometimes guys are just more comfortable on the left or right (stepping/making contact with a certain foot/shoulder, etc). We'll see if/how Lefty & Co. adjust should Ford win the job.
When I say "reach block," I mean a zone block where the blocker is assigned to block a defender that is aligned closer to the sideline than the blocker. On plays were there is a reach block at the point of attack, the ball is usually being run on the outside. The blocker not only must make contact with the defender, but must get his head and body outside and seal the defender to the inside.
The Key Play has a tremendous amount of resources on terminology and technique, but they are mixed in with the film reviews. I think it may be a good idea to do a "Blocking 101" and perhaps I can work with Joe to get all our Hokie Football tutorials in one place separate until the film reviews.
I think that players with family already in the NFL might be a little more likely to stay for an extra year. Oftentimes players whose family need financial support go pro early, possibly to their detriment (see Evans, Darren). I can easily see the inverse being true for players who are the sons or siblings of NFL players.

They should play baskeball for it. Start with a tournament of 64 12 man teams. Single elimination. The champion team then faces eachother in 5 on 5 with one sub each. The winning team of that then faces eachother of in 3 on 3. Finally, the ultimate winner is determined with a game of knockout. All televised. Losers of the game of knockout are forced to coach the worst teams that anyone can find.
