As an added note if there is a positional group that you would like to hear more about let me know and ill try to watch them during the rest of this week. However, I can only get to about one a day.

Unfortunately I did not see Seth Dooley during the training drills but during position drills he was getting praised a lot for his quickness off the snap and for following the blocks. For the position drills this morning it was only about three quarter speed but he was quick at following the "ballcarrier" and reading the blocks.

With Bucky he was a little lazy early on until Bud really got on him about being slow and going through the motions. He was manhandled multiple times by Dadi in the sumo drill but was usually a little bit quicker then Dadi after about the third drill. His quickness was pretty good and was good at changing directions like in the three cone drill. He did get a little discouraged when he was being beaten by Dadi in the sumo drill but came back strong later on in the morning. Again a disclaimer was that Dadi was manhandling and playing very great this morning so I'm looking forward to see how Bucky comes back against him tomorrow.
If that's the main thing we're looking for in a coach, we are handcuffing ourselves so much. We have not, nor will be in the near future, a basketball job that when a coach obtains the job, feels he has "made it." We don't have the tradition in basketball to make it a dream job, unless you grew up a Tech fan. And if that's the case, good luck finding the ONE candidate out there who fits the "culture" while also being a coach that can help us reach our goals.
Please, define what exactly our culture is. Because I can tell you as a current student we're in the midst of a culture shift. This late 90's early 2000's culture we used to have is slowly becoming extinct.
By placing such a high importance on having a "cultural fit" coach, you can limit yourself a tremendous amount. I know I'd damn well take a great coach with a bit of a cultural disconnect who generates wins, rather than a lesser coach who "belongs."
Why don't we just build the floor out of a touch screen so we can project things from below?
Then we could add effects, like adding a ripple every time the ball hits the floor so it looks like they're playing on water.
Or flaming footprints if a guy hits three shots in a row, NBA Jam style.
Then we could see if a guy's feet were on the line when he shot a 3 or was nearly out of bounds.
And we'd never have to change the floor for volleyball, we could just load volleyballflooring.jpg.

And being a Duke player/assistant coach he may want to get back into the ACC, maybe eventually hope another ACC HC gig could eventually lead to Duke when K retires. Though for that there's probably a bazillion assistants going to battle for that.

Has done wonders at Harvard though. In seven seasons he has made postseason in five. Three straight NCAA appearances. 95-26 in the last four years, 48-8 in conference in that same time.
The culture means a lot. Not just at VT but at any school. We need a coach that is going to come in, embrace what he has to do, the community, the fans, the players, etc. Do we want him to come in and spend five years getting the program respectable again and on the brink of really winning and then jump ship (EG: Pete Hughes)? Or do we want a guy that's going to really sink his teeth into this program. Build it. Win. Stick around for a while. A guy isn't going to do that if he doesn't buy into the atmosphere. Does he want to be somewhere that the students and fans walk around in ties and glasses of wine? Or somewhere the fans are kicking back beers in camo hats? There is a LOT to be said about the culture. Whoever we hire is going to move to Blacksburg. Live there. If he has kids they're going to go to school there. The culture of a university infects the town too. Especially a town the size of Blacksburg. Plus, the coach buying into the culture is what is going to determine if that coach gets along well with people. People within the athletic department, the fans, the boosters, etc. Writing off the school's culture and saying it doesn't matter is ignorant. It was considered when we hired Babcock and I'm sure he's going to consider it when making this hire.
One thing I do like about Yahoo is that if you click on the little info symbol by each game it gives you a summary of each teams strengths and weaknesses and what percent of people picked each team in that matchup. You would have to be a paid Insider on E$PN to get info there.
You would just would have to carry water around to the players but its not very difficult.

I am a college student (pretty average early-to-mid-20's-looking-white-guy) and, for football, probably pretty willing.
That is awesome! Along those lines, I went to a UNM game at The Pit last year, and they gave out red glow sticks to everyone and turned the lights off for the player introductions. Perhaps not quite as impressive as Cleveland's light show, but much easier to pull off and still a really cool effect. It was really an incredible atmosphere all game.
