More then that I think time coaching at a SMC will do him good for solidifying how young men ought to conduct themselves with respect and maturity, which he can take with when he possibly moves up or returns to Blacksburg.
In his book Frank spends a lot of time talking about his time at the Citadel and how it built up his foundations as a coach, gave him a very strong lesson in doing more with less which he certainly took to heart. He also has on multiple times spoken about how he was affected by the quality of men he coached there. I believe Shane also got his start there too.
What kind of drills was Dadi going against Deon Newsome in?

They're more worried about that paycheck and not about wins. If I remember correctly they'd rather go 1-11 or 3-8 and leave after one year for the NFL and become a 4th round pick.
You mean Tommy Amaker at Harvard? Could be an interesting choice, Harvard has now made the dance the past 2 years under his watch, plus he has some power conference experience from his time as HC at Michigan. Plus he's from the NOVA area which could help the I-95 corridor recruiting.
Though who knows how much Harvard pays him, whole private school thing and all.
I don't really think that's fair to the students who want to watch hoops. Or to the hoops team.

I'm not saying it should be that way, just pointing out how it is.
Leal wasn't around for the drills before the position drills as he was just running around the perimeter of Rector Field House (he may be nursing a knee injury from before). Unfortunately I was not near the Qbs for the positional drills.
This whole "VT culture" talk is really just starting to become so unbearable. If the coach doesn't commit violations, who cares what his "culture" is. I feel like we're starting to become a bit too proud of this mentality we have of ourselves.
I'd like to know all the answers please.
I would be pretty surprised if we go after him hard. I hear he is very much like Seth; a hot head, my way or the highway kind of coach. Many great coaches are that way, but it wouldn't fit with our culture.
I feel like this is something many of our fans are forgetting to acknowledge in this coaching search; our culture is VERY unique. It's what we all love about VT, but we need to understand that some people may not want to work a true family atmosphere, and that's ok, VT isn't for everyone. While we all want a great coach who can win instantly and will fight with the big boys for recruits and wins, we also need someone who fits with our tight-knit community atmosphere. If they don't like that type of culture then it will only be a quick fix. We're never going to be a win at all costs kind of school, in any sport, I don't believe anyone here truly wants that; but some of these coaches expect that type of support. So while many of us may personally want a specific coach because they win a lot of games, we really need to look for the right personality. The actual list of candidates when you look at it from that perspective, isn't that long.
Don't ask me who I think it should be, I haven't done any research, nor will I.
Lonesome Pine District proud! Didn't know he was plying the coaching trade in my hometown, though. Glad to hear he's making progress up the coaching ladder.

My worry on that is that you are talking about a likely 2 year construction project. Where does the team play in that time? Roanoke?

Wright has been at Nova since 2001 and grew up in a Philly suburb, he recruits kids from Philly/NJ/NY mostly. If Whit could get wright to leave a team contending for a #1 seed that he's been at for 13 years (and his wife is a nova grad) for this dumpster fire of a team than he's Houdini. Look there are realistic guys and then there are guys like Wright who have had high levels of success at bigger basketball school who will pay him more $ than us and they have local ties to that school.
I think some people overestimate the draw of the program. It would be like say (may not be the best example) Dabo leaving for Rutgers.
Yea, I see. If Fuller stays healthy, I think he's a first rounder in 2016. I think Facyson will be a 1/2 round tweener. Other than that, I don't think anybody else will have the NFL knocking at their door.
I got some lolz from them - we get it, UVA has lots of national titles in sports nobody cares about! We get it.
VT has had some really good teams in non-revenue sports in recent years and we do a good job of supporting them here, but I don't think any of us are under the delusion that these sports move the needle in terms of perception. Which is exactly what all of those goofs commenting fail to realize... or if they do, try & rationalize hilariously.
It's ok to admit that you enjoy watching your soccer, lacrosse, baseball or softball team, but don't try and convince me that their success means anything in the long run when it comes to public perception.
Kyle stuck around when he could have left early, so hopefully he might. Realistically, it would be tough to ignore the NFL if that is his goal.
This morning most of the drills were speed oriented but also there was the sumo drill where you and to toss the opponent out of the ring and Dadi won each time. Dadi went against newsome mostly on the speed drills and i think he only lost once when he came out of a turn (kind of like the 3 cone drill). Most of the strength drills for Dadi were against Hodges (who didnt have a very good day) and Mapp as well as Gibson (once).
