The problem I have with this is why now from McShay, on twitter?

Now, because the draft is approaching, and he's (re)watching game file on players. On twitter b/c it's a media outlet, and he's part of the media.

Let's face it, VT wasn't exactly the most exciting team for an outsider to watch in 2013. I devote a good deal of time (probably too much) to reading VT football blogs, posts, stats, etc. I keep an eye on the top 10-20, and that's all I have time to follow. Do you really expect Todd McShay, who has to devote his time to teams having more exciting seasons, to watch game film on an 8-5 team every week? Come on now, let's be realistic.

Is he helping LT out? Maybe, I doubt NFL scouts and GM's take McShay's advice though.

Again, you're completely overthinking this. McShay's goal isn't to help out Logan. If GM's wanted his advice, he would have a job as GM/consultant of some sort. His job is to study players. Someone at ESPN probably asked him to cover Logan Thomas, he did, and he tweeted what he thought. He's paid to give analysis before the draft, not to analyze the starting QB of an 8-5 ACC team.

It's negligent because there's context to everything. The receivers dropped way too many balls against Alabama, however the underneath passing attack was something no one expected to blossom last year. There's a reason VT signed all those receivers and potential wideouts in February, the position wasn't good enough. But as a group, their play improved over the season.

Is it true? Of course, French and the gang have covered here in nearly real time. The problem I have with this is why now from McShay, on twitter? Is he helping LT out? Maybe, I doubt NFL scouts and GM's take McShay's advice though.

I would agree that they will not be successful in the NCAA tourney, unless there 3 point shooters get hot at the same time because there defense is outstanding. But the odds of that happening are slim at best. I say they probably win the 1st game in the NCAA and they get destroyed by a hot shooting team that forces them out of comfort zone.

>>Don't know how L. Thomas' family stomached watching 4th QTR vs. BC. Faulty pass pro=sacks/hits. WRs fall on routes. And drops,drops,drops...

just curious what you people expect.... do you really think our pass pro in that quarter was ok?

do you really think our wrs didn't fall on the routes?

do you really think we didn't drop balls?

face it McShay is probably 100% correct, and our offense has sucked for years now

if not for Williams and Wilson and TT, I shudder to think how bad this sh**show would have been

Grimes, Morehead, Loeffler have essentially said this in polite terms (polite to their new boss)... VT's offense was a complete sh**show

hope our new guys can turn it around... submarket salaries and Frank's offensive offensive strategy ("do no harm") make this turnaround a very risky proposition

In McShay's Defense...

He's absolutely right

The rest of the offense made leaps and bounds throughout the season, but in the beginning it was rough. Like, really rough. I can't think of another game with more drops, college or pro, than the Alabama game.

i think of that quote often and smile.

Wonder if Sean McDonough will be the replacement - his call for Danny Coales catch vs. Nebraska/the rest of that drive is one of the all time great VT calls.

After seeing this write up in the Washington Post you may be correct:

Forwards C.J. Barksdale (Achilles) and Cadarian Raines (ankle) are unlikely to play, and sophomores Adam Smith (calf) and Marshall Wood (flu) are questionable.

While not surprised by Raines or Smith, I thought that Barksdale was past his injury and hadn't heard anything about Wood having the flu. Team is essentially down to eight players with this news so realistically that's the 6 rotation you mentioned. Barksdale not playing will be a big deal.

Congrats to him. He did work hard and get better.
I still don't understand some of his continued dribble and drive decisions, but with our offense doing a lot of Iso for him, what choice did he really have...

Also, is he just watching the games now? Wasn't he releasing rankings during the season? Or is this just so he can claim to have watched "tons of tape" later?
