Andrew Ford takes the snap, hands it off to Carlis Parker who then hands it off to Sam Rogers on a reverse. Rogers throws a 30 yard pass to Durkin who, to avoid being tackled just outside of the goal line laterals the ball to Mark Leal who then fumbles it into the endzone where it's recovered by Bucky Hodges who is by now 8 feet tall.
I've always wondered if we'd ever experiment with some 2-QB trick plays? Lefty has shown his craftiness at times.

That's exactly what they did with Carlis Parker. Told him he'd get a fair shot. Saw him one day practicing with QBs, the next I saw him running routes in the back gym by himself. He pretty much knew the writing on the wall without even having to be here that long.
Pending depth, I'd say McMillan ends up in the secondary.
Slightly off-topic question...does Durkin being here actually help Leal's case to be the 2014 starter?
I've heard that SL is very high on Ford, but even higher on Durkin. However, Ford is considered to be more polished and ready to play right away, and is also enrolled early. If he were to start Ford over Leal, then we'd have a situation where the starting QB (Ford) could be benched in 2015 in favor of Durkin - a situation I'm guessing all coaches would want to avoid. So does all of this serve to help Leal's case?
I like Ford. I don't see him as the big play threat that Harrison would have been. Ford is probably a better route runner right now, and can be used on the jet sweep (played as a wildcat QB often at the end of his senior year.)
In my olden days, the Y was the tight end who was on the line of scrimmage. The H was a tight end/fullback hybrid who was flexed off the line of scrimmage. Your X was the receiver who lines up on the line of scrimmage and can't motion unless he is covered and then flexes back in motion (the split end.) Your z is the receiver who lines up off the line of scrimmage and who can motion without another player moving (the flanker).
In layman's terms-
Malleck/Cline is the Y
Rogers is the H (and Malleck played flexed back a bunch in the spring)
Stanford is your true X receiver.
Byrn is your trips/slot guy (no idea what the letter is if there is one. We said "slot left/slot right for the WR who replaced the H or the Y)
Knowles is your flanker.

Yes. 4 in a row of 20 or more and 9 in a row overall. Just painful to watch as the young guys flail around out there with no apparent rudder.
Weaver was already disliked greatly. Pushing Beamer out couldn't have made people like him less because you can't have a negative approval rating.
Small sample size. Since 2008, UMD has kept the best player in the state twice, 2012 and 2014. 2/7, not bad I guess. In the same time period, VT has kept the best player once. UVA as well. So the ACC schools in the VA are 2/7 as well.
Yeah I guess that makes sense. Wasn't really thinking about the "inoperable" part. He had to be drunk to do something dumb like that, which is why I think the "no drugs or alcohol" clause was added to his probation. Why tell a minor they can't drink alcohol unless it's already proven to be a problem.
That was a real petty move by the Gainesville pd though. I'm not justifying his actions but I'm not fond of theirs either.

My takeaways:
1. "The process is disgusting, only most people have no idea," says Xavier Lee, the former Florida State quarterback. I feel like being a college recruit or just being in the recruiting world in general is like some secret society you'll only really know about if you're invited to be involved. I'm sure shady shit goes on all over the country with pretty much every major program (us included to an extent) but it's one huge collective effort to keep it under wraps. There's no way a diary could be written and the recruit be 100% honest, just no way, the whole ncaa would get turned upside down.
2. Letting off fire extinguishers is a felony?
The most effective reason to retain in-state recruits is to develop a continuity , connections, legacies and tradition. Having long standing relationships is most reasonably done closer to home (in-state). Proximity geographically is important for visits but also with culturing relationships, rivalries(UVA) and familiarity ("my 2 cousins went to Tech...")
I found it interesting in Kevin Jones' interview after Whit Babcocks press conference. KJ said that Whit, being from the area and a Tech fan, wouldn't have to be ~brought up to speed~ about being a HOKIE. It sounds funny, but it does speak to the fact that having familiarity with a program helps in the continuity of a culture that Frank & Co. has developed. Becoming a HOKIE isn't just playing for a good team, It's about becoming part of a family, the HOKIE NATION family.
