I get what you're saying, I'm just saying that I would hope at least that recruits don't come on our site and think that the skills they learn here won't translate to the NFL haha. I'd like to think that Bud's system highlights the linemen and linebackers in a way that other defenses don't... In a blitz-heavy defense, don't guys get pretty good at tackling in the backfield? I could be way off my rocker though.
I think Hopkins will be in the NFL and I think Maddy will be there too. We haven't had a dominant DT in a very long time. John Graves was good but was not an NFL player in any system.

Specifically, what "evidence" is there? I see a lot of insinuation, but no actual evidence. The fact that UVA sucks isn't evidence that these people are dirty
Ask VT about alienating a HS coach who regularly has D-1 talent- referring to Mike Smith at Hampton after the James Wilson incident in the 80's
This has also kind of been my point all along: High School coaches steer kids toward and away from schools all the time and have forever. It's the principle foundation of Beamer's "develop good relationships with in state HS coaches" strategy. So, the notion that 7v7 coaches are "dirty" because they steer kids toward or away from certain schools doesn't hold any water when HS coaches do it as well.
Unfortunately, more like realistic
Historically, we struggle with the true elite talent in the state on an annual basis. They get poached more times than not. After the Hand debacle, where we were the odds on favorite all along until we weren't, using his favorite coach in football to recruit him, and doing everything we could to bring him in, only to see him eliminate us before his Top 3... Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for in-state talent anymore.
And by radar, he meant any of the first 100 recruits of the ESPN 300?

I get that they are uber talented but they are also almost always a type of player that I do not want in the Virginia Tech program. The great thing about coming through a High School program is that you have to earn your spot on the squad through coaching respect and hard work. I believe that these kids think they are a gift to your football program and you should do whatever they want. I'm not even sure that its a case of UVA underdeveloping some of them as much as it is that they don't buy into the team philosophy. (If London has a philosophy that is)

Had a Bama fan at work voluntarily inform me that this guy is already on Nick Saban's Radar and he is pursuing him already. I wasn't even trying to have a conversation. Hope our coaches don't drop the ball this year and that he does follow the trend of all blue chip DL in the past 3-4 years.
In all honesty, I was thinking the power of Lee Suggs from the 20 yd line on. Maybe I am being a little optimistic with that comparison but for redzone situation can you just imagine the packages you can come up using both Sam Rogers and Peoples. Makes me smile at the possibilities of some amazing leading block destruction.
And we have 5420798 other RBs that will see the field this year

You kill two birds with one stone that way... the 7 on 7 guys are mostly receivers, and that is Moorehead's position. The 7v7 contact would be with the position coach they would work with. If a QB shows up worth recruiting, Coach Leoffler could come on down and have a few words with him.
Additionally, if the 7v7 coaches have some kind of racial problem with Stiney, you erase it by sending coach Moorehead.

Granted, that's an IF statement, but why possibly subject yourself to the wrath of the NCAA? The losses outweigh the gains in this situation IMO.

Problem is, the one we deal with looks for all evidence to be one of the shady ones. I think you run the risk of alienating the HS coaches (see bleow) and that a serious issue. Ask VT about alienating a HS coach who regularly has D-1 talent- referring to Mike Smith at Hampton after the James Wilson incident in the 80's:

I would love for him to end up at Tech.
I expect him to end up at someplace like Alabama, Ohio State, or Florida State.
Sure it doesn't hurt to have hope...until you get your hopes up and then get crushed when Nnadi goes to FSU, Stephone Anthony goes to Clemson, Hand goes to Alabama, Kirven goes to Alabama, etc, etc, etc, etc...
So, hope all you want. All I was saying is that I've learned to temper my hopes significantly, and French really helped me understand why getting VHT DL recruits has been a problem for so long, and why it will likely continue to be a problem for us.
I'm not suggesting our school not recruit him. Shoot maybe he'll come. What I'm suggesting is that on NSD, we don't act all sad, crushed, and shocked when a 5* DT with NFL aspirations chooses a school that 's going to teach him a skill set and a system that translates directly to fulfilling those aspirations.

No, I think most of us completely understand that he does a lot using guys that aren't as highly rated out of college. (I hate it when people say Beamer does a lot with a little at Tech. Sounds like such a ridiculous insult to the players we bring in)
What we're saying is that... if he can do THAT with classes loaded with 3* recruits, we'd be unstoppable if he could coach up 4* and 5* recruits in the same fashion.

I completely agree with both of you. To VTFootballGrad's point, which I tried to make but failed because I started angrily rambling, is that Beamer consistently makes a lot using a little, and I think many of our fans seriously take that for granted
I would love to see us bring in a goal line package kinda like we did against Miami this past year. bring in big hop bring in people's and bring in durkin. Now that is a scary but could be a very efficient group inside the 5. Could people's be the next JC but with more power?? That's my thought process right now.

AAU basketball is far more shady than this, and it has been allowed to grow and cultivate for decades. We've already seen that the NCAA is completely spineless to enforce their own rules on widespread issues like recruiting, so they go after schools for the nitpicks. Miami got a slap on the wrist for their problems. North Carolina didn't even get punished for giving out grades for classes that didn't exist to keep athletes eligible.
If you're sitting around waiting for some NCAA mythical hammer to drop and clean up the mess that is collegiate recruiting, you're going to be waiting a VERY long time. This is a Pandora's box that cannot be closed at this point.
You're right, the Hokies don;t have all high character guys, but I would guarantee that none of them have been to six high schools in five years.
Six high schools in five years??? WTF? That's not so much a red flag as it is a glowing red hot billboard.
It's there a reason you're completely ignoring the AAU in the room? You keep avoiding discussing the very obvious analogy here. AAU hasn't "come falling down" and there's absolutely no evidence at all of a "money trail" beyond the implications of bitter Hokie fans.
