ESPN is all about promoting what benefits them the most and makes them the most money, and that is SEC. I bet there are SEC teams all over their top 20
Well he's listed as DB on Hokiesports.com profile and as a safety in his hokiesports highlight video Scout.com might have listed him as the #3 OLB but Scout doesn't pay close attention to VA. He played safety for FUMA, camped as a safety all through his junior & senior years and was adamant during his recruiting that he saw himself as a safety and schools that wanted him to play LB shouldn't recruit him.
I wish people would stop projecting him to Whip or Backer.. there's no rationale other than his size, which at 6'2" 200lb also happens to be perfect for FS/ROV.
Surprisedness
third word I've learned on TKP in as many days...can add that to the list with...
Recency
Conflating
I think we are pulling a Seattle Seahawks here with this class. We have some big corners coming in, most are at least 6 feet if im not mistaken. Our d line will be fine and backers will be great. I think we got some good offensive weapons and some good o line recruits.
I agree in that I think he already has shifted his philosophy.
While he will continue to mine VA for all he can, VT's recruiting footprint has enlarged-specifically to the north.
And while VT missed on some of the top kids in VA-(I'm not so sure that we were much in the running anyway except for Hand for a while, and obviously Nnadi) we got some great out-of state talent AND got some looks from top kids that I don't remember us getting interest from before.
I think Loeffler has shown his ability to get some looks-(maybe Hackenburg would have stayed in-state?).
The new staff is more tech savvy and younger and motivated. I think this pays off next year.
If not.....then their are some tough times ahead.
The key will be maintain, or better as far as games won next year.
If uva lays another egg next year, they will have an uphill climb in that they got a few highly rated kids and didn't do diddly again, AND London's seat will be infinitely hotter.
I think we are in a good position if we can produce on the field.
I don't know if you listed those names in order, but it looks like the "top recruit" in each state generally stayed home, regardless of what percentage of the total left state. Except for Virginia...the "top recruit" left the state. You then look at 2, 3 or even 4 for VA...elsewhere (UVA doesn't count as in state).
To put that in a number: Only 4 of 12 top (#1) recruits in your lists left their home state, and two of those were from Virginia
VA (and Virginia Tech) needs to get at least a few of the top 2 or 3 recruits to be comparable to those other states, IMHO.
This
Some of it might be sublimation but some of it is just the remaining snow wicking up the water or absorbing it.
I haven't seen a video where somebody melted it down the whole way but, in the videos I saw, it sure looked like it was starting to turn to slush.
Two things. First, as a former resident of the great state of Pennsylvania, Punxutawney Phil is awesome. Most groundhogs would be hibernating or eating gardens or getting hit by cars or whatever it is that groundhogs do. Not Phil though. Every year he climbs out of his home, surveys the area, and tells his handlers if he sees his shadow or not. What other groundhog do you know that can even talk? And he doesn't do it for fame or glory, he does it simply to educate the nation on what to expect over the coming weeks. For my money, its the only forecast I need.
Second, will the Tuesday of next week storm impact northern VA? Will the two systems over the Rockies combine to form the mega Sunday storm?
Reminded me of an episode of "Dogfights" that I once watched on the history channel
Love his North-South running.
Welcome!
And how many major football programs are in MD for them to compete against?
Billy Ray Mitchell deserves a mention here.

I disagree with it being a petty move.
1 is a childish stunt that costs money for someone to fix and creates a potential hazard.
3 is borderline malicious, costs someone a couple of hundred to fix and has the potential to be really hazardous should there be a fire sometime before the extinguishers could be repaired/replaced.
The business would be in violation of OSHA and unable to operate legally until they're replaced and probably became a felony because it caused more than $1000 worth of impact to the company.
It doesn't sould like much but, when carefully considered, the impact to others is quite large.
As does mine.
last summer is where it turned from all UVA to trending to VT......
I sure Hope VT gets More interest in a lot of DL players this year and not just one player and lock in on him. History shows that in VT. Either get one on board or get five on board, lets not have another Nnadi year ! Because he wasn't coming to VT to begin with, it showed last summer .
Hes a great player but I think we have a better chance at Darvin Taylor than Tim Settle. People are already saying Settle will more than likely go out of state. Would be happy if im wrong tho
My slowly receding hairline now hates Vinny Mihota...
If all 3 of those guys had a ball in that first play, all of them would have been dropped for a loss.
I can't help it. Every time I see "Willie Pile" the only thing my brain thinks is "perfect Hokie player name. Awesome."
oh also I forgot to debunk the whole non melting snow thing. If you believe that...please stop haha the truth behind the videos is that lighter fluid contains plastics among a few other chemicals. when its burned its released into the snow and leaves color. It also has a little something to do with the chemicals in the snow itself. Try putting your lighter up against anything as close as they are...and it will leave a black residue mark. the people even state in the video that the snow is melting in their hands. The reason you don't see so much water buildup is due to a lovely process called sublimation, please look it up if you haven't heard of it. so im trying to contain myself and not bash people who do it but its people who are looking for a conspiracy theory...and some of the comments on youtube are absolutely baffling to me but I digress...its false...don't worry us meteorologists aren't cray enough to build mega snow storms in an attempt to carry out some evil diabolical plan and its kind of insulting to my profession that people even say this stuff its just silly.
The first highlight clip sold me.
So....you're saying our bball team is the Bismarck and every other team we play is the Royal Navy.....excuse the history major while he realizes just how accurate that analogy is....

It's always nice to see people embiggening their vocabulary
