There's just a line that gets crossed here. When you have representatives of these camps coming out an trashing a school and praising another (and for any Hoos out there, I would be pissed if someone was trashing UVA and praising VT, just out of principle), they are not looking out for the individual player. They are trying to build their brand by directing high school athletes to schools, becoming de facto farm systems for those schools. They're boosters at that point and it's wrong.

Let's hope he has better hands than Boykin did during his first couple of years. All that talk of "big hands" and he couldn't catch the ball that well until his last year.

There is a chance that Nnadi sees some time on the offensive line as a Seminole because of the depth Florida State has on the defensive line.

Knowing that, he still chose FSU when he could have been in the 2 deep right away most likely at tech.
We may not have scored the top talent in VA, but that was the top talent in the nation. Losing out to the likes of FSU and Bama on top recruits is tough to deal with but should be expected. That being said, we still got OL depth, a couple of playmakers at WR to go along with a young Stanford, our future QB, and two studs at RB. Plus guys like Fisher, Reavis, Minor, Kiehn, Walker will give Foster and co. plenty to work with.
It's makes me sad to write this, but we'll never consistently pull in the top talent from our own state unless we luck out with a few 2 star recruits who end up being the best players in college football and lead us to a National Championship. If we had 10-win seasons for 8 straight years and we couldn't even get a top 10 recruiting class nationally during that span, then what makes you think that we can do that now? Unfortunately, all of the loses in big games has eroded respect for our program. At this point, the best we can hope for is to continue to sign a top 30 class, and hope that one of them turns out to be like Michael Vick. We've found out that 10 win seasons aren't good enough to win the recruiting battle against other schools. We need a national championship at this point in order to be a legitimate factor in recruiting on the national stage, which in turn will put us in with the other elite teams that are in the National Championship conversation year in and year out.

Keeping this class together ~= disaster. Losing Nnadi sucked, but we flipped Ford, and he just would have been icing on the cake. A disaster would be something like losing 2 or 3 of the o-linemen to various B1G schools, and not landing a single guy from Florida. Or maybe having none of the qb prospects qualify, or something like that. THAT would've been a disaster. If you're happy with the class we brought in today, the day is, by definition, not a disaster.
CJ is not playing tonight and Smith is in fact done for the season. Doesn't look like it's going to be a good night in Tallahassee.

I think this is the difference. The question is whether or not the 7v7 coaches have the players' interests in mind vs, their own.
Ask him where Greg Stroman, Cam Phillips and Travon McMillan were THOUGHT to be going, and where they ended up. Ask him why a 4 star DL whose brother went to UVA (Mihota) signed with VT. Outside the guys who were betrothed by 7X7 teams to UVA, we kicked their asses.

It's not even like Hoke was some hotshot coach on the rise. Turns out he's better than Rich Rod and that's about it...

I played tennis growing up, and paid a personal coach. When I was looking at colleges, he helped me reach out to coaches, told me which programs/coaches to stay away from, helped me put together highlight tapes, etc. I trusted his opinion far beyond that of my high school coach. I know he my best interests in mind, and he is still one of my good friends today.
Granted this is common practice in tennis, how is it any different from the 7-on-7 coaches?

First order of business is to get him to change his name to "Kam". The Hokies usually have good luck with that.
I think if they were threatend about ratings ESPN would not have expanded to multiple Thursday nite games in recent years. I know alot of NFL fans that dont follow CFB and vice versa ... and didnt they already have NFL on Thurs nights anyway? GO HOKIES!
I watched Cam Phillips play in Maryland, the kid is great receiver with great route running ability. He reminds me of Boykin

But I was trying to mask my laughter so badly at my desk that 3 coworkers came over to see.
I said I'm happy with the class, but the news from today = disaster.
"having the player's best interests in mind" is not something that is quantifiable or could be regulated by the NCAA.
While there could be something shady going on with these guys de-facto assuming that there is comes off as sour grapes on the part of tech fans. It's silly to dismiss all 7-on-7 programs as "dirty" or whatever while saying that HS coaches are legitimate non-parent sources of influence. It's not like a HS can't be dirty, or a parent for that matter.
I don't think that dismissing the notion of 7-on-7 programs and coaches out of hand is in the best long-term interests of Virginia Tech Football
