I don't believe they are doing most of what you suggested and if you are ignorant as a fan I put a lot of that squarely on the school for not making you aware of opportunities. The common theme running through a lot of this is Tech and the Hokie Clubs failure to communicate effectively.
I think this is exactly the issue. We should explore alternative models to accommodate the islands of alumni separated by I64 and 81; maybe official worry-free ticket exchanges, weekend season tickets, drastically reduced prices mid-week to attract non-student NRV locals, something along those lines.
If they are currently doing something please excuse my ignorance.
And if they try to offer a new lower than $100 minimum they might get even more people. Offer the base tier to be $5 per month, or $60 per year. Hard to explain that you can't afford $5 per month.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on your points, however I am just not sure where you draw the line with this case. As there are risks to playing a violent sport and these injuries can occur at any age. In fact I would venture to say that alot of these concussions are occurring in high school and are often unmonitored like they are in the NFL and NCAA. I can personally tell you that I violated concussion rules while playing football in high school. So for that reason alone, I do not think this case will get the traction it needs in order to be successful.

These are well-researched and documented statistics, but I've found that the "eye-test" statistics, if you will, are generally 1) Third down conversions, 2) Turnover battle, and 3) Rushing yards. The winner of those categories 95 percent of the time is the winner of the football game.
I beg to differ buddy, "debt free with a diploma from a University that "athletes" have no business being associated with". If we have no reason to be associated with so called schools why are they recruiting us to play there? mhm mayeb because they make Millions compared to what it costs them to put us through school.
With that Link above Louisville made $16,800,234 in revenue just off of Men's basketball, but you're telling me that those "student athlete's" got compensated enough. seems fair (sarcastica)

Wake up buddy a diploma doesn't mean as much now as it did awhile ago. Its who you know and your body of work, not what school you graduated from. Yes I know some company's like to hire athlete's because we work well under pressure can handle a difficult schedule and still can perform but its because we did it for 4 years while being a STUDENT athlete.

I agree. Doesn't even have a top 40 recruiting class coming in this year. 7 of the other 15 ACC programs are in the ESPN Top 40 class rankings. 247 has 11 of the other ACC programs ranked ahead of us with the 66th ranked class right now.

Definitely, make a student ticket available for a very low cost to get a reserved seat and then open up 2,000 seats to first come first serve free students.

But I also think that VT does need a small/modest increase in athletic fees. Ours might be the lowest in the ACC and part of the reason why we have as small staffs as we do.

Sad as I hate to say this, JJ is over his head. And was hired to upright a Sunken Ship..Sunken ! He is a very well liked Man, and he never meets a stranger, which to me , makes it Harder, I hope they can find a place in the BB program somewhere for him, He's Hokie and loves VT. How is that unrealistic? That number represents about 1k shy of 2 years of undergrads getting their diplomas at Tech. Thats a massive resource pool that we currently have out there that we're not even trying to dip into. If you just got about 20% of each graduating class to give back to the university since the 1999 season and held onto them throughout, you're looking at a Hokie Club membership right now of 15,000 new members since then. And to be honest, 20% should be on the low end of the amount that give back to the school that they cheer for.
The problem is, the Hokie Club isn't even TRYING.

Good catch. I will get it fixed and see which area was incorrect and if it has an effect. Likely a minimal effect to the Turnovers Luck (PPG) is what to expect.
Seems like allot of money for coaching a game..the rest of us will never make anywhere near these totals. I guess the product makes money so it's all relative.
Is there a reason that the "Interception Gained" and the "Interceptions" numbers are not equal for 2011 and 2013? They almost seem to be flipped in the "Interceptions" row. Does this impact your calculations?

If the student-athlete enters into such an agreement, the student-athlete is ineligible for intercollegiate competition."
But the NCAA can represent them and make billions of dollars with 0% return to athletes.
I think Bud's also happy to have a kicker that would be a reliable safety valve in the event that someone starts to break a return. But historically though, that area is Bud's recruiting ground so that's why he was the recruiter.
I think Tech is exploring a tiered price ticket system for basketball which would be nice.
