All I want to say to this thread is:
-People are allowed to like whatever uniforms they like. It's not a crime.
-There's more downvotes on this thread than some of the "Logan is a TE" threads. Chill out, everyone.
Not really... we were the team with the talent. ;-)
It will be several months before tickets will go on sale. Its after the season ticket renewals get mailed and processed before they release single game tickets. Check around mid-late June or early July for single game tickets.
Anyone know when tickets go on sale? I had to book my hotel room for the Thursday night game already because I didn't want to get stuck in Christiansburg, or worse. So I got the crappy Days Inn way down S Main without even having tickets secured. Anyone know?
French...please don't post a picture of that, ok?
Bucky Hodges just consumed the entire town of Blacksburg...they kicked him off the team because they don't have a helmet big enough to fit his head.
The only one who can stop him is Sam Rogers.
Maybe it was a different sport, but I think there were talks of having an early signing period so players could sign in the fall and get it out of the way. Maybe I'm thinking of Basketball or something else though.
Its just wishful thinking on my part...frustrated by the Alabama's and FSU's stealing players at the last minute.
Some day maybe some reform will come. Its really hard to fix, just like the paying players issue.
I would probably be happy with the current system if I had graduated from Alabama...not that I would actually be capable of reading or comprehending the posts on this board if I were an Alabama grad.
Ok, I wasn't aware Barksdale was close to graduating. Yep, that would allow him to play immediately elsewhere.
Wood might be regretting it as he hasn't done much this year. I was expecting more from him this season.
Either way, I agree with you...a coaching change needs to be made. JJ is a nice guy but the program is totally floundering. I think Greenberg would have a winning record with this group honestly.
A rockstar coach would be nice...
Are you left handed or right handed?
When Greenberg was fired Tech offered to let Wood and Harrell out of their LOIs, Harrell took it, Wood came to play and seems to be regretting it. This would lead me to believe that Tech would allow any of the signed LOIs to be negated if they fire JJ.
My understanding on Barksdale is that he is close to graduating, so he would be free to transfer and play immediately while working on a graduate degree.
No yea I get it, something should be done but its tough to nail down a full proof plan, but I do think your window idea is headed in the right direction
Giggity
See my post above...I agree. Coaching changes and family situations should open things up for the recruit.
I also agree on the pressure placed on recruits by the coaches. Maybe the solution would be that you can make a verbal commit 6 months in advance and then you have a 30 day or 60 day waiting period where you cannot visit other schools or a 30 or 60 day period where you can rescind your verbal. If after 60 days you decide you want to honor your verbal commitment, you can then sign a LOI.
Just throwing some idea's out there.
He'll probably announce on signing day (2 weeks!!!)
And everyone else is now proven wrong in their sarcastica attempts
I understand what you are saying, but the verbal commits have moved up earlier and earlier as the years have gone by. Players for 2015 and even 2016 are commiting verbally, a year or two in advance. Then, for an entire year they have Nick Saban in their ear, telling them that Bama might have a spot for them. Or Urban Meyer asking them to come visit. My point is, they shouldn't do away with NSD...they should stop the process of verbals more then a year in advance. Players should make their commitment and stick with it. They shouldn't allow players to be recruited or offered before their junior year. Offers to 8th graders is weird and ridiculous. It just opens the door for corruption.
Maybe make it so guys can't give verbals more then 6 months in advance. Keep NSD firm or either allow players to sign the LOI once they give a verbal. Just don't let anyone sign a LOI before their senior year.
If a guy changes his mind after signing, (unless a coach leaves) then they have to honor their decision. (or unless the school releases him)
I agree, most students have an idea by their senior year...but we also don't have Saban and Meyer calling us and writing us and coming to our school or home and pressuring us to accept a scholarship.
Its just a dirty business and it keeps getting dirtier...
Saban may have just broke a rule yesterday with his trademark "I just happened to run into him"

If you go to the 247 site for Josh Rosen, they even list Saban as visiting this guy... (check the timeline)
This is supposedly a rules violation.

I am not saying I have the solution for this, but I do think there has to be some type of reform on recruiting. The big programs abuse the process and get away with it. The smaller programs are at a disadvantage to begin with.
If you run a clean program like the Hokies, you get victimized repeatedly by the scum bags at other schools...
Ever seen the movie Splice?
On second thought... just don't.
While I agree you shouldn't commit until you're 100% sure sometimes things change. I can see a player decommitting because of a coaching change head or assistant (believing an assistant will be there a while can be a little naive but I'm sure these coaches sell to them that they'll be there for at least a few years) or family situation changes, ect. plenty of valid reasons.
Also I've never been a college football recruit, but I'm sure there is pressure put on you to commit especially on visits and especially they made the change to when you verbal it was binding. And hey if you have a change of heart you have a change of heart*.
*Please no one throw this back in my face if I complain about Harrison or someone decomitt on NSD
Except for the end of the game when we won, it was pretty obvious then.
I see what you did there.
You da man, French!
let's hope it's just something for a role...
They can't just do away with NSD, otherwise we'd have kids signing right after Pee Wee football practice. There has to be some limit, and that limit will always have the same issues as NSD, regardless.
Also, I think if it's any earlier, you'll have a whole lot more trouble with guys changing their mind after signing their LOI.
Just like most students, by Spring of your senior year of high school, you should have a good idea of where you're going to school, but I'm sure a lot of you spent the entire fall debating which schools to apply to, and all winter choosing which was your favorite.

The Thursday night game is always the easiest ticket to get on gameday. I would wait till then.
