Every time we've worn all orange we've playing like dog pooh. The unis are evil.
Note: I hated them because I just thought they were ugly. When they ran out of the tunnel I thought they were the Browns at first.
Very true. I'm rather anti-arched back method myself, but it's still rather impressive.
Point is, the kid can lift a heck of a lot of weight, even if it's off by a pound or 2 that the spotter is taking off.
Right - Agree completely! Even though in my below post I am anti- arched back method, the kid can still throw iron up.
I think the point was that superstitions relating uniform combinations directly to on-the-field performance can get silly quickly. I am 100% on board with your opinion that "we played like dog pooh" against Duke though.
This could be an entire new topic. I just don't see the point in giving a verbal commitment if you aren't truly FIRM in your commitment to begin with. It rubs me the wrong way that guys commit and continue to take official visits and talk to other schools. Why don't they just NOT commit verbally if they are still open to other options...by definition, it is not a commitment anymore if you are open to visits.
If you make a commitment to your girlfriend, are you allowed to keep going out with other women on "Official visits"??
Don't get me wrong, it goes both ways...we gained Chris Durkin after he committed to MSU.
I would just prefer they change the rules...when you commit, you sign the LOI right then...no more stupid National Signing Day.
Pardon my rant...they will all eventually be converted to TE anyway, so the point is moot.
French stop behaving like a child and take your ball and go play by yourself. If by expressing my opinions of things I agree or disagree with I am somehow destroying the forum then I pray you all accept my humble apology. French if it bothers you that I am not intimidated by your position then state that in your dialogue that I may consider apologizing to you personally. If because I add a "lol" or smiley face to the end of my post makes you feel I am entertained by disagreement, it is actually because I don't want to give the impression that I am taking any of these things personally and also my attempt to make light of the conversation. I have not antagonized or insulted anyone on here (not once). I also don't wait for the conversation to heat up before I chime in, I only chime in when I am able to do so.
I saw a fellow Hokie excited about what I considered to be a pretty good idea and established a forum to discuss it. Unfortunately I may have arrived late and didn't see the original title to assess its context. The next thing I see the kid is forced to take a defensive position and is humbly apologetic. I'm sorry but this offended me. I feel we are all a football/academic family and probably the most passionate one at that so it is your responsibility as a leader in this community to be above such strong positions and take a more neutral approach. Instead you stated your position emphatically and with your influence pretty much deflated the idea.
I can't tell you how to do you or be who you are French but please don't try to vilify me, a die hard HOKIE, because I have done nothing wrong here.
...btw I do apologize to you Joe, "Fascist" perhaps was a bit strong. And thanks again for establishing what I consider the best damn Hokie site out there.
He gave a soft verbal commitment on #74...of course he is still talking to other numbers such as #76 and #67.
He has an official visit to try on #79 next weekend. (Nick Saban will be there also)
Yeah, with that much weight, safety is a much more legitimate concern than having a "legit" lift. Point is, the kid can lift a heck of a lot of weight, even if it's off by a pound or 2 that the spotter is taking off.
Yeah geez, ya'll are talking like this kid was doing something impressive...
Not a fan of the arched back method either - Not sure how VT teaches it, but the strength and conditioning coaches I know force you to have your back on the bench the whole time to make it legit. Otherwise it turns into a decline bench, in which you have more muscles working together to lift more weight. Most, if not all, bench pressers can lift more on decline bench than regular bench. The slope of the chest when the back is arched like his is very similar to the slope of the chest on a decline bench.
As a spotter, you're supposed to have your fingers just touching the bar. Especially with 515 lbs on the bar.
I would just like to point out that "Virginia" is spelled correctly on our diplomas, unlike another school in the region.
What?! No way! It's right here.... dammit....
I did hear Keihn is coming for the weekend.
Lots of solid commits here for Nnadi and Harrison.
I read somewhere that if Stanford Alumni was a separate country, it would have the seventh largest economy in the world.
What ever happened to Isiah Ford?? I saw he is having an official visit to the Zima school in south florida
It means that he is not actively looking or visiting other colleges and is pretty much set on signing with VT.
Or we could do what anyone with common sense would and just surround them with cute girls. It may seem petty, but they're 17 and 18; girls and football are probably the only things they even think about.
I believe all our OL Commits are coming this weekend.
We lost to Duke because they were a better team
We lost to Duke because we played like dog pooh. Duke was not the better team, they just derped less than we did.
Fair...and I agree.
From what I can tell through twitter:
Melvin Keihn
Billy Ray Mitchell
Tyrell Smith
Terrell Edmunds
Ricky Walker said he'll try to.
Or you could use the momentum from twitter to drive traffic to the site. Maybe require a TKP tag on all tweets from allblackeverything or whatever it is.

Hands on the bar is unacceptable during max testing in the gym where I come from. I spot often and left heavy often, still not a legit lift IMO. Maybe since it was 515 and he is a kid I understand (who knows, maybe they do this at tech, but Acree nailed this with no hands on bar from spotter), but even that little bit of assistance with the fingers on the bar make a huge difference.
