Booker... 6 4 listed hokiesports, NFL
Robertson.... 6 3 CBS draft tracker, some 6 2 vt sites, rivals
Powell.... 6 3 nfl combine, 6 2 most other places
Beasley....6 6 nfl combine 6 5 some other places including nfl.com
Engleberger played some T if I remember correctly 6 4... was DE at combine
numbers seemed too high....didn't check Williams and Costen because kinda irrelevant....find it hard to believe these are the only above 6 4 DTs we've had come into the program, but certainly very few (2, or 3 if count Engleberger) were 6 4 or greater and succeeded under current regime.... Powell, Lewis (6 2), Pugh (6 2), Beasley, went to combine... I understand why we want low to the ground DTs, but seems to me that many DTs in the NFL are pretty tall 6 4 ish
hope we put some front 7 in the nfl soon would really help recruiting IMHO.... excited about the guys on the board and the guys in the program.... hopefully our senior class can stick as well (looking a little shaky right now, but once they get into a camp I think we may be surprised)
I think the all maroon everything does embody the lunchpail spirit. We've seen a lot of really exciting plays and big wins when we're in all maroon everything. I say get the players involved and lets get the mentality back!
Also - shoot me, but I thought the orange uni's were awesome. We lost to Duke because they were a better team, not because of orange uniforms.
They'll get a taste of that great weather Blacksburg is known for this time of year!
It's impossible to prove a negative. The fact is, whenever teams unveil some flashy new uniform, players and recruits always seem to get amped. That was true with our black unis in 2011. I would say that The Game That Must Not Be Named (played 5 months - 5 days before signing day) and the loss to the Trees probably contributed much more negatively during that particular season.
He said he was coming initially, but now says he can't because he has to work.
Except there is ZERO evidence whatsoever that some recruiting misses happened as a result of the team not wearing pro combat uniforms. In fact, our worse ranked recruiting class in the since 2004 (#33 according to Rivals) was the class that signed in February of 2011. Guess what aired on national television less than 5 months before that? Virginia Tech wearing black Nike pro combat uniforms playing Boise St. Since you postulated that Pro Combat jerseys and recruiting are related, there is far stronger evidence that the Pro combat jerseys- and perhaps even black jerseys- contributed to the worst recruiting class in nearly a decade.
NOTE: I don't believe black Nike Pro Combat uniforms caused our recruiting to suffer for the 2011 class. This exercise was to demonstrate that uniforms may not be as important a factor in recruiting as fans tend to believe. A point of oversaturation may even occur with too many uniform combinations, evidenced by current recruiting rankings of: Maryland (#63), Oregon (#34). Regardless, coaches are by far the most important component of recruiting in my opinion.
I very much hope that is true. One of the most exciting prospects this year for sure.
i hope this is a big weekend for us.
At least VT doesn't have to play on cyber monday...
Right...any coaching change could result in transfer's. I think basketball recruits already signed a LOI.
JJ is not a good coach, but he is apparently a REALLY nice guy. I am sure at least some of these players and recruits like him alot.
I hope we don't lose much, but we do need to make a change, I agree with that.
I don't think we lose Barksdale as he will be a senior next year.
Wow...kids special though...offer early but he will prob be an FSU guy.
Did you know gullible is not in the dictionary?
We need to have that girls Lacrosse player meet with them...
Only concern I have with all of the above is that unless they can bring in a rock star coach, how much of the above changes once again if JJ is fired? I could see us losing three to five players from your list if JJ is canned, and maybe two regardless of what happens with JJ based on all the rumors floating out of the program (Wood/Barksdale)
Guess we will see how it plays out, hopefully the new AD and President are on board for a great hire along with making some significant changes to the way the Hokie Club and Season tickets/tickets work.
Revis is coming, which could help with all the recruits. This is our big weekend, we need to have the commits all around them.

I believe he's had a lot of offers late in the recruiting process, which could mean he's getting closer to qualifying.
But he's had a child the whole time he's been committed to us. There is some inside connect between Torrian Gray and Harrison's family, presumably his mother's side (since Harrison talks shit on his Dad when his Dad told everyone he was going to FSU).
Gray's from that area, I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's related to Harrison's mom or they have known each for a long time. A lot of people are very confident we keep Harrison because of this mysterious cnxn.
I thought so too, but hokiesports.com lists Grove. I don't really trust them but that's the best I could find in my 5 seconds of Google research.
Well according to the Orlando Sentinel there's going to be lots of competition. After being asked who's already shown interest he said:
Florida State, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Miami ... schools like that," Tyreke said. "Everybody says it will get boring. I just hope it doesn't. Right now I'm living life.
BOOM!
When the bar starts to bend from the weights on the outside its ridiculous....kid had to have three spotters for the lift.
Third and Long..
Obvious Passing down...
Time for Bronson..
You don't have to apologize. You were just internetting, and there wasn't anything in the community guidelines explicitly forbidding promoting a Twitter cause. And I do think it's cool the website was able to get you a lot of traction, because it means there are a lot of active eyes on the site. My goal when moderating the website is to keep a good signal to noise ratio. I don't want the active discussions to transform from the things we normally discuss, to hey look at this thing I'm doing.

The spotter had his hands on the bar the whole time. Although this is a lot of weight, not a legit lift.
