When we have home games, our coaches have gone to the Tidewater area for games. They don't travel far, but they do recruit throughout the state, maybe even NC as well.
No. Coaches recruit on Friday nights. And recruits won't be watching or coming to a F=riday night game since they'll be playing themselves.

I'm against it as well. Friday night games already have the perception of being the "nationally televised" games for weaker conferences. Why would we want in on that?
It may be nice logistically, but I think it hurts the perception of the program.

This is laughably bad. I love how the video for #6 (Enter Sandman) is exactly the same clip that has been used for justification of us being awesome. These guys are really stretching for legitimate reasons to hate us. As has been mentioned a few times before, I'll give them a hand: Reason to hate VT #1: We beat the Jackets consistently, nearing UVA-levels of consistent beatings.

EDIT: I would like to add that I am not so opposed to Friday Night Games. Hell, I'll take college football every day of the week. Tuesday night game? I'm there. Wed? Phuck yah. I get the point you're trying to make though and I agree about the excitement level you could generate.
I wish the NFL draft were tomorrow...just so someone could pick Logan, announce what position he'll play, and then I'll hope we never have to hear this discussion on this site again.

As Papilgee pointed out above, kinda rough to judge a guy so harshly on a broken play. He saw there was no safety, so he told his guy to run deep and chucked it on the run while under pressure. Not a bad incompletion at all. If he's gonna miss, that's where he needs to miss. Don't give the beaten defender a chance to make a play on an underthrown ball. And college football teams play cover 0 (no deep safety) all the time, so it's not like this is something he'd never see on this level.
They probably do go to high school games, but they must be more local games like Christiansburg, Salem, Roanoke. I can't imagine coaches fly around the country between Friday afternoon after practice and Saturday morning before all those noon games. Plus, in this day and age, theres limitless tape on nearly every game of every high school player that wants to play at the next level. FWIW, my question was only for one Friday night game so I have a feeling the coaches could sacrifice or work around one weekend to the point where some high schools play games on Saturday afternoons either because of weather or use of a shared facility.
They're just mad because out of their three biggest rivals (Georgia, Clemson, Hokies), they've won exactly ONE game against any of those teams from 2010 onward.
Thats true, I also think of Boise on Fridays...but thats the thing about perception, it takes a big influence to change perception: such as big football programs starting to schedule Friday night games. If I recall, Thursday night games didn't use to be that popular.

Wasn't trying to call you out as a Logan basher, just commenting on the likelihood of the ensuing discussion featuring people bashing Logan, followed by people bashing those Logan bashers, followed by people supporting the Logan bashers from the Logan basher bashers, et al.
Also another reason to encourage a Friday night game. Theres no pro football on Friday night. But then again, those involved in high school football would hate it, especially prospective recruits that have to play that night.

Also, when you have to direct the WR to a spot upfield, there's not a great chance that he'll actually get there in time since the QB has to throw in a hurry or get plastered by a DE.
Yeah that's what I meant. I know UT just sucks in talent with little effort but that would still be very impressive if they are indeed positional rankings.
What were the feelings of Weaver before he was hired? He was AD at Western Mich. before he came to VT and whatever you think of his deficiencies (paying coaches, FB scheduling, etc), he certainly has some strong positives; namely Lane Stadium expansion / facilities improvements and athletic dept budgeting.
None of these names really jump out to me, but I don't recall Weaver jumping out at the time and we could have done a lot worse.
Agree with what others have said that the new AD needs to make strides in fundraising and improved fan experience w/ a focus on whatever it takes to put VT back on the level Clemson & FSU currently enjoy in the conference.
Thats what I'm mostly trying to get at. It would have all the excitement of a Thursday night game without any worry waking up the next day. It also wouldn't be every weekend. I'm talking about just for one game as a feature game like "Thursday" night games. Imagine if we got a marquee matchup, like make our home game against tOSU on Friday night. THAT would give people a reason to watch college football on a Friday night.
Let the MAC keep Friday night. Or are they Tuesday night?
Point is, any night other than Thursday or Saturday isn't where we want to be.

Im really interested to see how Logan performs in the game this weekend. While its true there has been a lack of talent around him the past two years, hopefully he can play "lights out" this Saturday since he actually could have some help from the other skilled players.
This will be a good opportunity for him to silence a lot of his critics....
