If you were planning on attending the game, I'd say Friday night would be awesome. Get out of class/work, start tailgating, watch the Hokies win and then heading downtown sounds like a great night. I'd be all for that if I was still a student.

For people like me who live too far away to make it to the game, I would love to watch the game, but if the kids, wife/gf, friends etc. have something planned for that night, finding a tv may be tough. Because Friday night isn't football on tv night, it's having fun so you can wake up at 10:30 and start preparing to yell at the tv.

Also, if we want to be visible to recruits on a national stage, pretty sure playing at the same time as them defeats that purpose. Not sure how big of a deal that would be, but it'd be something to think about.

NO. For all the reasons listed above.

Also would it affect recruiting? Don't the coaches usually go to high school games to watch recruits on Friday night?

Whenever I think of college football on Friday nights I think of Boise State. I swear they play on Friday night at least six times a year.

I dont even know what it will accomplish? If it's the rumored after thanksgiving UVA game there is already an SEC game that day. And a lot of people work that day. So you aren't getting a primetime game, and you are probably decreasing the amount of fans in the stadium. So its lose-lose. Sounds like a great call to me.

I feel that if we scheduled a Friday night game, we would fall into the 'wannabe' category that the Big East/ConferenceUSA championed. Seemed like the Big East/Conference USA always had a game on Friday night - to which I was not excited to watch 1.) because they never played a great opponent and 2.) Thursdays and Saturdays are reserved for college football

Personally, I'd rather see the ACC (and VT by extension) get more of those Saturday night prime time slots. Thursday used to be great, but ever since the NFL Network started broadcasting pro games on Thursdays, the college game on ESPN just isn't as special as it used to be. As for Fridays....

no sir

i agree that friday is more for high school and that it feels small time unless it's a bowl or maybe a holiday weekend. however, i feel like a friday night game in lane could be epic. it would be easier for people to travel, plus you'd have two days to get rid of your hangover (a concern for us old fogies). tv ratings would be low it being friday and all, but being there live in person it could be a blast.

No. No Friday night.
It's currently too unusual a day on the schedule.
Thursday nights and late Saturday afternoon are the best times for college ball.

As a high school football coach, I like preserving Friday nights for high school play. I can see the reasonings for wanting to play college games on those days but I'd hate it. It used to be Friday night games were second rate, however, I can see it becoming a huge thing because you're off the next day. Still, I like Friday night lights being for high school.

Don't like the idea at all. We consistently get scheduled at noon on Saturdays. The reason Thursday night games have been so great for vt is because they put us on a national stage. Our classic Thursday night games helped us become a household name across the country. On Friday nights, people are busy; they are out and about and not in front of a tv. I watched football every Thursday night last year and didn't watch once on a Friday. I love that most football fans tune in on Thursday nights, and I love it when we're the team that they're watching.

Good lord, these guys can't even engineer a decent hate.
It's like "punching a guy in the helmet after a play is over that completely changes the course of the game".

Somebody send them a link to our own fantastic Foe Rensics so they can slink off with their tail between their legs.
Stuff like this is how hate is engineered and manufactured.

Georgia Tech was founded in 1885 by beloved adopted son of Atlanta, William Tecumseh Sherman. Having burned Atlanta to the ground 20 years earlier, he returned to find they had rebuilt the entire city with huts made from straw and sticks. Realizing they probably needed some engineers (and someone to tell them what bricks are), he cast an envious glance north to that institute in Appalachia that had been basically DOMINATING the Southern technology arena for 13 years, and decided Georgia needed a Tech as well.

I'm loathe to credit Bleacher Report for anything (pretty much anything with a slideshow), but the company has invested quite a bit of money into hiring legitimate guys to cover their major stuff. And I believe this NFL draft guy is one of them.

Man, Al Groh left a lasting impression on the ramblin wreck (sp?) or whatever the hell they call themselves.

Not to mention the fact that based on their coverage, we're the only team ever to play walk-ons. Clearly they never watched Rudy.

Ironic that the GIF the "author" uses to hate on key plays is from a game where we're beating them.

Key Play

I'm sure you could ask CBS.. they know all about our Walk-On players.... Said No one ever.

Heck our whole team was "Walk- Ons" according to CBS. Disgusted me they played the inferior SEC bullshit.

Mark My words if the Miami game is on a Thursday Night, I will be attending which will be my first game at Lane Stadium. Although I have been to maybe 20 games never have I witnessed a true Enter Sandman in Lane so why not make it happen on a Thursday Night game vs The Zima's

A couple of things I notice from that CBS article

1) Boyd somehow escaped wearing those crazy cleats. Maybe he "lost" them
2) Thomas has boats, not feet. Seriously they are twice as long as that coach in the middle
3) This picture is taken at a perspective whereby the people in the background should be noticeably smaller, yet LT is clearly the biggest and tallest.

Note on Bitter's article:
1) never in my life have I heard of the VASID University Division Football Team
2) Only AB can cite Bleacher Report as a credible source and get away with it. Let's not use that as open license to do so on TKP threads.
