Maybe Torrian will rub off on him.

I was thinking this myself. Does anyone know what his status is. Seems like he wouldn't be able to participate in Spring drills due to his knee?
Also what happened to Reid. Saw he didn't enroll this spring.
400 - 800 /yr isn't that much?
Look, I make a pretty nice salary and have a pretty comfortable life. But come on.
I'd have to think long and hard about dropping 400 bucks on anything not absolutely necessary. And like I said, I'm fairly comfortable, and am not relying on part-time jobs in between classes for spending money.
Given today's job market, and the nation's U6 unemployment numbers, I think it could fairly well be called usurious to charge students that much more per year on the hope we can land bigger-name coaches, that those coaches would be successful, and that after that success, they would stick.
The Microsoft College of Engineering at the Sony Polytechnic and State Institute of Virginia.
I think UF will have to find a whole new coaching staff after this year, No way Muschamp makes it out alive. The school up north (The yelow and blue team- can't say it because I'm from Ohio) looks to have their staff locked up. Brady Hoke has his friend/coaching partner for their OL position.
And I think/hope Beamer is making this hire based on the fact he said I don't want a 1 and done, so if you think that's you then please please please don't accept it
I'm really hoping we'll have someone as entertaining to watch during practices/scrimmage as TG.
"Insert joke about pussy touchdowns that no one from TSL would understand here"
Yeah it should have been their ball, but it's hard for me to say they got hosed when those are the rules and they are interpreted that way consistently throughout the entire season. Plus, as you said, it didn't end up determining the game and actually benefited the Niners.
I know in that one highlight video, many bitches were trucked that day.
That's a bit too giddy...Makes this a good find!...lol
I would imagine that you are a very lucky person because of it. Let me know the next time you are buying lottery tickets...I'm in.
Agree. Tech's scenario with our OL, our present OL recruits, and the RB scenario seem very similar to his Texas stint. I like the sound of all this. If we land this guy (or a guy like him with similar career performances), the VT staff are showing their grit and determination to keep rebuilding and getting the momentum shift to continue.
Gotta Like That!
To my knowledge, the Hokie Club (athletic booster fundraising organization) doesn't make cold calls. The call center in the University Mall handles academic-side fundraisers. I'd imagine that most, if not all, of the phone calls you get from Virginia Tech have to do with academic donations.
A week or so ago we had a long thread discussing the Hokie Club, its benefits, and why or why not we donate to it. A surprisingly large number of people weren't aware of a lot of aspects of it, because they do a terrible job of advertising.
Not to rain on the parade, but does anyone else have concerns that this could be another one and done hire? It seems like a guy with this kind of resume could definitely get an o-line job at a bigger (read: higher paying) school during a coaching transition. Teams like Florida, Nebraska (possibly even Michigan) could potentially be replacing staffs this time next year.
I know that you don't pass on a guy because he could leave, but what would two consecutive one and dones mean to the program both offensively and for recruiting?
After this year I doubt those programs will be turning talent away.. Other than LSU. Texas and UGA have a lot of recruiting work to do based off of 2013's records
I'm picturing the opponent's defense trying to stop one of our guys from pushing the ball into the endzone, and 66K+ fans plus the 11 on the field loudly and forcefully rooting against them. That was intimidation, and it went hand-in-hand with when we could out-physical our opponents.
Plus, the go-go beat (though I hate go-go music) was very characteristic of the home area of much of our student base. State pride and such.
Good question. While VT is a fine university with a fine football program, Texas, LSU, and UGA pretty much turn talent away. He needs to be a good recruiter.
The recruits will love that!
True enough I guess.
But then, I'm not actually complaining about our money situation. It would be nice to make more, yes.
I'm all for that.
Just not on the backs of paying students.
And by paying, I mean taking out loans and seeing that fee amortized over 10 years or so.
Sure it doesn't seem like much. But it's a bit of a hidden fee, in that its a relatively small part of the overall tuition, and that it is therefore payable via those borrowed funds.
Students in college are not great at economics and budgets to begin with. But I bet if you pulled that fee out of the general bill, and said it wasn't payable by financial aid, you'd see a sh!tstorm of protest over the kind of increase being suggested.
Except I don't think you'd see very many teams trying to run the ball from 10 yards out. If a team had to go for 2 from 10 yards out, that essentially forces them to pass.
*imagining us with the ball in the redzone, about to score*
Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi

Nope. Doesn't work for me.
Also, Bud Foster.
that's funny MV7 is the best player that VT has had drafted in years other than Kam. Its all about current situation, FSU currently just won the NC. There is so much hype/media attention for this upcoming year. why not go to FSU.
Meanwhile at VT.. New OL Coach, Lost every decent bowl game in the past couple years and is trying to get back to ACC dominance.
I get your point but I honestly think FSU an VT are on the opposite sides of the recruiting spectrum.
Shai was recruited by Loeffler, and Williams by Cornell Brown.

Maybe his neck is just a little sore.
