I know we need OL's, but getting a big, strong, mobile QB like Durkin might pay off big down the road.

I'm trying to think of a way to convince the trustees of the UVA endowment to support VT athletics, but I'm not coming up with anything.

I would be all up for removing XPs, FGs, Punts, and Kick Offs just so we could hear the Europeans whine even more about us calling it Football.
I'm just glad we have this "good problem" with alot of quality RB's. This program is no stranger to summer camp and early season injuries. While I never want to see a player hurt, it certainly helps to have a full stable. Also, we all know not every recruit pans out either. Some of these dudes could be bust's or have Brandon Ore type friends they hang around too.

What you said makes complete sense. Calling plays to get in FG range vs. calling plays to get a TD etc etc, But I still don't like the fact that Finkle can come out there and decide it. To me, that's like the other 22 guys put the condom on but couldn't use it for it's intended purposes.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. I always thought the Hokies Respect thing was idiotic. It's a stadium on a college, with a ton of college aged kids, what do you expect? Holding hands and sing-a-longs? This isn't uva.
You want a nice, pleasant event where you can have good, clean family fun and relax? Go see a play. This is football.

I'm considering making a new thread for this because it's meta as hell, but take a deep breath. TSL killing their vbulletin has lead to an influx of new accounts here. TSL has a negative connotation, because, well, we've all read TSL. However, it's a generalization. There are some smart and insightful people who post there, and perhaps they're posting here now. I move that we give everyone the benefit of the doubt. The community here is strong enough and has the tools to self moderate.
As for Hokie Dale's original posts, I'd liken it to walking into a new neighbor's house party and asking everyone who they voted for in the last election. (Note: we don't talk politics here.) It's not the first thing you talk about after shaking hands. With that said, it wasn't totally unreasonable.
I must admit hearing Zumwalt is disappointing makes me pretty happy. Still rooting for Gayle to do well!

Stick it In was awesome, and it really does need to come back. But so does the Goodbye Song. Nothing was more ballsy and badass than Lane Stadium back in the day when, after the game was clearly over, the Marching Virginians would start playing the Goodbye Song with about 5 mins to go and have it slowly build and build and build til it was loud and proud right at the end.
We need a resurgence to reintroduce a bit of the 'in your face' that Lane used to have. Not to the violent end of being in your face, but the stadium needs its bite back. We need our edge back. Hokies Respect grabbed us by the balls and made us whimper. We need that to change, badly.
I will say that I am impressed that washingtonpost.com is able to determine that I am on a desktop and launch that version of the website, instead of the mobile version that is linked. Hadn't seen that yet.
