Awesome! That was how nearly every home game back from 1979 to 1985 was. I mean Every. Home. Game. Cassell rocked for every opponent. We were a basketball school back then. Cassell was feared by opposing teams. There is no reason we could not be both a B-ball & Football school. I remember some incredible games - and waiting in lines in front of Cassell in tents for as much as 3 days to get tickets (rotated with friends and fraternity brothers). It was 1st come for best seats then. And students had the entire North side! And we filled it!! Some of the games:
1. Beating Louisville in 3OTs on National TV
2. Beating the #1 ranked Memphis State University Tigers by 20 points!
3. Watching Dell Curry drop amazing after amazing shot (before there were 3s)!
4. Winning the Metro Conference in our 1st year when we weren't permitted to go the Metro Tournament!
If you want to generate revenue, then we need an agreement that fans, alumni, and students will come and the administration will hire quality coaching talent for their side of the bargain.
If we don't get back to this atmosphere in Cassell, we will not improve our B-ball relevancy.

Let's be honest though. If CFB resorts to putting Stiney as OL coach and not at least giving Loeffler a chance to find someone, shit gonna hit the megafan and all the FBSers are gonna be coming out of the woodworks

Well...Coach Stinespring is regarded by some as the best recruiter on staff. He has also coached a bunch of offensive linemen to the League.

I trust Beamer and Co. to make the right decision here. Stinespring, Washington or whoever. They brought in Grimes, who turned out to be TOO good. I'm sure they'll follow it up with a sensible decision. I trust they've all learned from the Curt Newsome dumpster fire.

Upvoting because the kid impresses me and I would 100% break my ankle doing that.

Interim AD? ...assuming too much.
Grimes maybe wouldn't have been here if Loeffler didn't come and Aub didnt suck in '12.
I get the feeling he didn't have many options jumping Chizik's ship and followed Lefty to the burg.
That said- whatever the circumstance I have faith that Frank (& Co.) will bring in our best option.
GO HOKIES!

I'm guilty of doing it - but the HOKIE nation is often selling itself short, it's a GREAT destination for anyone associated with college football. There are 126 college programs- of desired coaching position, VT is very attractive for both accomplished and promising personnel. GO HOKIES!

Even if Todd Washington were willing to come to Virginia Tech, I wonder what price it would take to get him. The issue I see is that any potential contract is probably capped under what Bud's and probably Loeffler. I dont think you can pay a coach coming in more than what Bud or Loeffler makes.

The other problem I see is who is making this decision on what the University is willing to shell out? Is an interim AD really going to be able to dole out potentially some serious cash when it is not their job going into the future?

Agreed, it is a very smart tweet and more news than we got from the inside during the huge personnel changes last winter. There has to be some grain of truth to it, as he is well aware of the fact that he would look like an idiot next week if we hired a no-name. I think it also puts any "Stiney to OL" speculation to rest.
