I laughed when I read on twitter about Stinespring possibly going to LSU. Kind of like he was going to the Colts. Remember that rumor a year or so ago? No top quality football program is going to go after Stiney. I know I know he is a really nice guy and a great recruiter, we are so lucky he chooses to stay at Tech! lol
FWIW, according to Bitter (I think referencing coachingsearch.com), LSU has inquired about Grimes. Grimes, as of yet, has not shown any interest in leaving Blacksburg.
Would this move make much sense? I feel like if I was in Grimes position I'd rather stay at tech a few years, help build success, then become a viable offensive coordinator or head coach prospect rather than continually making parallel moves job wise between schools. Or am I just wrong haha
Let's hope we make better use of ours, than the Cavs did with their brand new one.
Heh I gotcha. Really hope he does stay for a few more years, at least.
I read your original post as Stiney being more likely and went, "Wait, what?"
I agree with everything you have said.

Damn straight!
He knows how to coach an O-Line well in the SEC, and his Line essentially remained intact after he was let go with the purge of Chizik.
Go Bob Bostad! Or alternatively, Bostad might be a nice pickup for us if we end up needing an Oline coach. Wisconsin's Oline was sick when he was there. Hope it doesn't come to that, though.
All I can say is if he's still there when Bama returns to Neyland, Kiffin better hope his security escort is competent.
You know what really irritates me about this article? I mean besides the piss-poor editing on that piece where it's obvious they just changed names (Grimey is TE coach and recruiting coord?)
The pic of Grimes they use is with his Auburn gear on.
I find that just disrespectful.
They stole signals in those games? Maybe I didn't pay as much attention during that time period, but I don't remember hearing about that. Got any articles I can read?
Why's that?
Hasn't Bud said that we've played ECU so much he practically knows their signals at this point?
The success of the O-line is critical to our progress. Please, VT, make a great counter-offer. And please, Coach Grimes, stick around to develop the awesome talent you are bringing in!
NOOOO. I like the work Grimes has been doing with the line.
I'd say that's way more likely than Stinespring to LSU. And it really would suck
ESPN is now reporting he got the job.
Yea, the only reason I gave it any mention is because Onward State (a pretty good PSU blog) wrote the article about one of its own professor's pettition
While the players were immediately kicked off the team, a Buzzfeed article from September alleges that Franklin instructed a player to delete footage of the incident from his phone
There is no reason to read anymore after that.
*Edit: emphasis mine.
More details have come to light since last January that describe his academic tribuations. His 6mo at prep school was flushed down the toliet by NCAA Clearinghouse rules about high school curriculum... All circles back to the Geometry classes he took not being accredited/accepted by the NCAA Clearinghouse. So he had to go JUCO route, which he's doing, with the expectation of getting an Associates Degree in May 2014.
In May 2013 there were some articles touching on his situation and they stated that "while Harris considers himself to still be a VT committ, his father isn't as certain" so as far as Drew has ever said, he's still interested in coming here, and the ACC allows JUCO transfers as long as they've graduated with an AA.
And then there's that messageboard post about a coach telling a bunch of boosters that Harris will be here in 2014.
So you are saying our defense is hurting our offense?
If they would stop being so damn good then the offense might have a chance to get some rest!
What do you guys think of this. It talks about an online petition started by a PSU professor to stop them from hiring Franklin because a BuzzFeed article in September alleged he told a player to delete a video incriminating players in a rape scandal.
To his credit the Attorney General has this to sayWe just wanted to state clearly that theres no evidence whatsoever where Coach Franklin was involved in any way in the cover-up or has done anything inappropriate." I grew up a PSU fan so I'm hoping he is indeed clean (and I'm sure PSU vetted him thoroughly) but in the wake of the Sandusky scandal it makes you wonder if they thought twice about hiring him.

Don't forget marquee OCC matchup with title contender. (USC in 2004, OSU in 2014)

Exactly. Not sure if it's been touched on here or it was another board, but apparently the coaches/VT told Harris what classes he needed and his dad disagreed and enrolled him in other class(es). Said class(es) were not accepted by the NCAA, hence young Mr. Harris's current predicament.
